Lust, sex in Alice in Wonderland (video)

Timeline: History, 9/15/17; Ashley Wells, Dhr. Seven, CC Liu (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly, Wiki

The Secret World of Lewis Carroll
Sexy or "artistic"? Alice photos by Carroll, c. 1861
ALICE IN WONDERLAND, 1865, is said to be the most quoted book in print, second only to the Bible.

It has a passionate army of fans who regularly congregate around the world to celebrate its rich and playful world.

But what of its creator, the mild-mannered Oxford U Math Professor Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (a.k.a. stuttering author and photographer Lewis Carroll)?

Famed not only for his wonderful stories, Lewis Carroll is also known for his ambiguous relationship with the young girl who inspired his most beloved creation: Alice [in Wonderland] Liddell.

A different time, marriage at 12
It was a seemingly innocent infatuation that he documented in his pioneering and provocative child photography.

With contributions from the likes of thespian Richard E. Grant, social commentator Will Self, and author Philip Pullman, at once adoring and provocative, this documentary casts a conflicted eye over the creation of mischievous Wonderland.

Don't make it dirty, dear Dodgey!
Pouring through historical evidence and stories passed down through generations, hear the tale of Carroll’s first encounter with the three underage Liddell girls and the first telling of Alice’s tumble down the rabbit hole one.

It was a hot and humid summer’s afternoon in a boat on the River Thames. This documentary was first broadcast in 2015. Content licensed from All3 Media International. Produced by Swan Films.
Child sex scandal: private diary confessions?
Wisdom Quarterly Wiki edit
"Come to bed," Liddell sisters with come hither looks. The age of consent appropriate for marriage proposals in England at that time was 12. (Suggestive photos by author Lewis Carroll).
.
At least four complete volumes and around seven pages of text are suspiciously missing from Lewis Carroll/Prof. Dodgson's 13 diaries.[90]

The curious disappearance of the missing volumes remains unexplained for such a meticulous and obsessive writer. The pages were removed by an unknown hand.

Most scholars assume that the diary material was removed by family members in the interests of preserving the family name. But this has not been proven to everyone's satisfaction.[91] Definitive evidence of sexual misconduct was presumably destroyed to preserve the author's reputation.

Except for one page, material is missing from his diaries for the period between 1853 and 1863 (when Carroll was 21-31 years old).[92][93] This was a period when the writer began suffering great mental and spiritual anguish and confessing to an overwhelming sense of his own sin.

This was also the period of time when he composed his extensive love poetry, leading to speculation that the poems may have been autobiographical and about Alice Liddell.[94][95]

Many theories have been put forward to explain the missing material. A popular explanation for one missing page (June 27, 1863) is that it was torn out to conceal a proposal of marriage on that day by Dodgson to the 11-year-old Alice.

However, no conclusive evidence has been made public to suggest that this was so. One paper allegedly offers a little evidence to the contrary. It is said to have been discovered by Karoline Leach in the Dodgson family archive in 1996.[96]

"Cut pages in diary document"

It is known as the "cut pages in diary document." It was compiled by various members of Carroll's family after his death. [So is it an admission that they cut the pages?]

Part of it may have been written at the time when the pages were torn out or destroyed, though this is unclear. The document offers a brief summary of two diary pages that were removed, including the one for June 27, 1863.

The summary for this page states that Alice's mother Mrs. Liddell told Lewis Carroll/Reverend Dodgson that there was gossip circulating about him and the Liddell family's governess, as well as about his sexual relationship with the child "Ina," presumably Alice's underage sister Lorina Liddell.

The "break" with the Liddell family that occurred soon after was presumably in response to this sexual gossip.[97][98]

A plausible alternative interpretation has been made regarding Carroll's rumored sexual involvement with the child "Ina": Lorina was also the name of Alice Liddell's mother.

What is deemed most crucial and surprising is that the document seems to imply that Carroll/Dodgson's break with the Liddell family was not connected with the child Alice but her sister or someone else. It is odd that a recently discovered document is used to try to prove this.

Until a primary source is discovered, the events -- and the secret sexual life of the sinful celibate math don Lewis Carroll -- will remain in doubt. More

Pre-Islamic History of the Middle East (video)

CaspianReport, Aug. 29, 2012; Dhr. Seven, Pat Macpherson (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Pre-Islamic history of the Middle East
The Scythians/Sakas had an Afghan empire.
In the 14th century a Muslim historian named Ibn Khaldun wrote about a pattern apparent in history: Farmers build irrigation systems supporting villages and towns. Later some warrior brings these towns under rule and forms a united political entity, a territory, kingdom (country), or empire.

Shakya Land: Scythia, Saka, Bactria, Persia, Iran
Then a tribe of nomads [like the Buddha's Aryan family tribe, the Scythians/Sakas, in Afghanistan] comes along and conquers the kingdom, seizes all its holdings, and settles in their place and further expands the new empire or civilization. As time goes by the nomads assimilate and become soft city-dwellers. They become like the kind of people they once conquered, and at this point another tribe of nomads comes along, conquers them, and takes their empire. The pattern runs: conquest, consolidation, expansion, degeneration, and [new] conquest. This is the pattern of history.

Vagina Museum Founder
The Icelandic Phallological Museum is probably the only museum in the world to contain a collection of phallic (dick, penis, schlong, cock, wiener...) specimens belonging to all the various types of mammals found in a single country.

Phallology is an ancient science which, until recent years, has received very little attention in Iceland, except as a borderline field of study in other academic disciplines such as history, art, psychology, literature, and other fields like music and ballet.

Scientific study of penises (images)
Now, thanks to The Icelandic Phallological Museum, it is finally possible for individuals to undertake serious study into the field of phallology in an organized, scientific fashion.

The Icelandic Phallological Museum contains a collection of more than 200 penises and penile parts belonging to almost all of the land and sea mammals that can be found in Iceland. Visitors to the museum will encounter:
  • 55 dick specimens belonging to 16 different kinds of whale,
  • one specimen taken from a rogue polar bear,
  • 36 specimens belonging to seven different kinds of seal and walrus, and
  • more than 115 specimens originating from 20 different kinds of land mammal:
  • all in all, a total of more than 200 dick specimens belonging to 46 different kinds of mammal, including that of modern humans (Homo sapiens).
  • Besides, there are some 24 folklore penis specimens and
  • over almost 50 foreign ones.
  • Altogether the collection contains 282 dick specimens from
  • 93 different species of animals.
In addition to the biological section of the museum, visitors can view a collection of about 350 artistic oddments and practical utensils related to the museum's chosen theme.

Museum history in the founder's own words

Seth MacFarlane knows Western culture.
The foundation was laid in 1974 when I got a "pizzle" or bull's penis.

As a child, I was sent into the countryside during summer vacations, and there I was given a pizzle as a whip for the animals.

Founder Sigurður Hjartarson
At that time in 1974, I was living in the town of Akranes on the southwest coast, working as the headmaster in a secondary school.

Some of my teachers used to work in summer in a nearby whaling station, and after the first specimen, they started bringing me whale penises, supposedly to tease me.

Then the idea came up gradually that it might be interesting collecting dick specimens from more mammalian species. More

Meditate like a tree

Ajahn Lee via Ven. Sujato (Gonzo Dhamma), Ellie Askew, Dhr. Seven (ed.), Wisdom Quarterly

Some kinds of trees make themselves quiet in ways we can see:

We say that they "sleep." At night, they fold up their leaves. If you lie down under them, you’ll have a clear view of the stars in the nighttime sky.

But when day comes, they’ll spread out their leaves and give a dense shade. This is a good lesson for the mind:

When you sit in meditation, close only your eyes. Keep your mind bright and alert, like a tree that closes its leaves and thus doesn’t obstruct our view of the stars.

Judeo-Christian ROOTS: God's wife (video)

Sigalius Mýricantur; Pat Macpherson, Sheldon S., Dhr. Seven (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly Wiki
Ancient Goddess Asherah, Astarte, Anat, Athirat… Ugaritic texts (therealsamizdat.com)

Pagan origins of Judaism and Christianity
"God" (YHWH, Yahweh, Jehovah) once had a wife whose name was Asherah, just like the pagan gods. But this was erased. YHWH Elohim (plural "gods") evolved from the Canaanite deity El. Judaism and Christianity are based on very old polytheistic traditions, dating back to at least Sumerian times. Sources:
God had a wife: Asherah
Judeo-Christian Jewish/Christian God+Goddess, YHWH+Asherah (allthatsinteresting.com)
.
Phallic Asherah (wp.unil.ch)
William Dever's book Did God Have a Wife? (Asherah) provides archaeological evidence.

For instance, the many female figurines unearthed in ancient Israel (known as Pillar-Base Figurines or Asherah Poles) support the view that in Israelite folk religion of the monarchical period, Asherah functioned as a goddess and consort of Yahweh and was worshiped as the queen of heaven.

Jews and Christians worship a god of war: Yahweh. Tel Arad Temple Fortress is an archaeological tel, or "mound," located west of the Dead Sea, about 6 miles (10 km) west of modern Arad surrounded by mountain ridges, divided into lower city and upper hill with the only ever "House of Yahweh" discovered in Israel.
.
Asherah (dryad?) tree/pole goddess
Hebrews baked small cakes for her festival. Dever also points to the discovery of multiple shrines and temples in ancient Israel and Judah.

The temple site at Arad is particularly interesting for the presence of two (possibly three) massebot or "standing stones" representing the presence of deities.

This runs contrary to the biblical claim that there was only one temple, in Jerusalem, and that it was dedicated only to Yahweh.

Mother Goddess Asherah (tokinwoman)
Although the identity of the deities associated with the massebot is uncertain, Yahweh and Asherah or Asherah and Baal remain strong candidates, as Dever notes:

"The only goddess whose name is well attested in the Hebrew Bible (or in ancient Israel generally) is Asherah."

The name Asherah appears 40 times in the Hebrew Bible, but it is much reduced in English translations. More

Sad news about Mother Teresa (video)

Second Thought, 10/16; CBN News, 12/15; Crystal Q., Ashley Wells, CC Liu, Wisdom Quarterly

The unfortunate truth about Mother Teresa
Truth hurts when we prefer only fantasies.
With Mother Teresa's recent canonization in record time as a full-fledged Catholic "saint," with no Devil's Advocate other than interviewer Christopher Hitchens (to keep the process honest, adversarial, and two-sided like a legal proceeding seeking truth and justice), what better time to examine her life?

The "beauty" of a woman - Hepburn
Mother Teresa of Calcutta did wonderful things for the world and for India, which loves her and reveres her. She was also an atheist, full of doubt, and persevering in doing good deeds and awful things like serving the Vatican, the worldwide Holy Roman Catholic Church, and proselytizing for converts among the desperate and poor.

Kindness, compassion, and mercy = beauty.
Her personal karma was likely good even without right view if she acted out of compassion rather than wisdom. The effect of her actions may not have been good and may have even been bad.

In a conventional sense she was indeed a "saint," and we love her for it. But she is much more fascinating, more complex than she is given credit for, and really stopped believing in God or Jesus's help and participation in her efforts. She wrote about in letters, and a movie -- a hagiography -- has been made about it.

(CBN News) The Letters' looks at Mother Teresa's atheism and struggle of faith: She is remembered as one of the greatest humanitarians in the world and the movie The Letters is about her life.

She is an inspiration to us all, but let's look at her in three actual dimensions rather than a smiley face stick figure of a ghost in our collective imagination. How much greater is she to be a real person like us and to rise above, rather than to be one of the elect destined to do only good not by her choice and power but by the Fates?

Hate and the climate with Greta (video)

VICE News, 9/23/19; LA Times; DS; Crystal Q., Ashley Wells, Seth Auberon, Wisdom Quarterly

"School Strike for the Climate"
The 16-year-old climate super activist Greta Thunberg delivers an over-emotional and hateful speech at the United Nations Climate Summit, where she chides and spits venom at so-called "world leaders" fronting for the capitalist/industrialist movers and shakers with the repeated phrase, "HOW DARE YOU!" She rips them a new one to what effect? It was "Thunberdolts" and lightning, very very frightening, mamma mia, hear her go! Beelzebub, has the devil put his sights on me, on she, on we?!

Mother Teresa (the atheist Catholic saint), like The Beatles and John Lennon and wife Yoko Ono, taught that they prefer pro-peace demonstrations to anti-war protests. Greta, maybe there's something to be said for peaceful campaigns over fights, strikes, invectives, and wrathful condemnations?
