Spiritual awakening or psychosis? (video)
Psychosis or Spiritual Awakening?
Phil Borges, filmmaker and photographer, has been documenting indigenous and tribal cultures for over 25 years. His work is exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide, and his award-winning books have been published in four languages. Borges' recent project, Inner Worlds, explores cultural differences with respect to consciousness and mental illness.
What is psychosis?
Psychosis is a highly misunderstood condition. In this TED Talk in Cambridge, Paul Fletcher illustrates the condition's complexity, taking apart how our brains perceive reality by reinventing illusions around us. If perception is just a form of controlled hallucination, what does that make hallucination? Fletcher is the Bernard Wolfe Professor of Health Neuroscience at the Department of Psychiatry in Cambridge, and works at the Behavioural and Clinical Neuroscience Institute.
