This is Part 1 in a continuing series on ancient Buddhist cosmology, the shape and inhabitants of our environment on the surface of the earth -- our planet or island Jambudvipa (the "Rose apple Land") and around it. It is a dialogue between two long-time Western monks from the Theravada Thai forest tradition, Ajahn Punnadhammo and interviewer Ajahn Sona. Ven Sona is from Birken Forest Monastery in British Columbia, Canada, which is affiliated with Pacific Monastery in Washington, USA.
