Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki: On August 6th and 9th in 1945, American war criminals of the United States military-industrial complex (combatants and scientists, propagandists and politicians) detonated two atomic bombs over innocent and defenseless civilians in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, respectively.
This was during World War II (after the U.S. used the anticipated attack of Pearl Harbor as its pretext for entering the war, moving major assets out to sea ahead of time to protect them, leaving behind old equipment and sitting ducks, U.S. GIs, to be sacrificed for propaganda purposes).
America's aerial bombings murdered between 150,000 and 246,000 helpless civilians, most of them not involved in the conflict. This remains the only use of nuclear weapons on humans in an armed conflict.
Japan announced its forced surrender to the Allies on August 15th, six days after the war crime bombing of Nagasaki and the Soviet Union's declaration of war against crippled Japan and invasion of Manchuria.
The Japanese government was forced in humiliation to sign an instrument of surrender on September 2, 1945, bringing about the end of overt war and ushering in decades of cold war hostilities that continue in varying forms up to the present. More

In Buddhism, āloka-saññā means the "perception of light." A recurring Pali language canon passage reads:
"Here the meditator contemplates the perception of light, fixes mind on the perception of the day, as at daytime so by night, and as at nighttime so by day. In this way, with a mind clear and unclouded, one develops a stage of mind that is full of brightness."
That is, mind becomes full of the perception of light.
This perception is one of the methods for overcoming drowsiness in meditation recommended by the Buddha to the chief male disciple "foremost in psychic powers," Mahā Moggallāna (A.VII. 58). [He may have said the same to the chief female disciple declared "foremost in psychic powers," Uppalavanna Theri.]

According to DN 33, this method is conducive to the development of "knowledge and vision." (See "purification," visuddhi). And it is said to be helpful for the attainment of the psychic "divine eye." (See abhiññā). Light can also be the direct subject of meditation as a kasina (a disk or special meditation object).
Buddhism has its own physics? Oh, yes. It is called the "Doctrine in Ultimate Terms" or Abhidhammapitaka. Why? In Buddhism, there is conventional reality as distinct from ultimate reality. In one world or perspective, there are things and persons. In another, there are only ultimate mind and matter, nama and rupa ("name and form") or the ultimate constituents of things, namely cittas ("mind-moments") and kalapas ("particles").

It's not a record; a couple of other films, including Titanic, have received 14. Still, it's a very big total.

Barbenheimer was a thing, Oppenheimer riding on the back of Barbie for Hollywood, and now the Golden Globes have double done it, choosing a lousy host and giving the bulbus award to Oppy instead of Babs. What humiliation for golden girl Greta Gerwig, who must have expected to sweep every award from here to her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Oppy is just a glorified biopic, like the Snowden film, not revealing anything, just distracting us with minor details about a personality. How do genocidal bombs get built, why are they built, what is "greatest purveyor of violence in the world today" thinking? Never mind. Hey, look, this guy is quirky. So 1920s futurism sits right in the middle, mostly forgotten. Technically, it's grouped in with "dieselpunk," which extends into the WWII period. But the aesthetic of the 1920s is a bit different.
For example, in the 1920s' version of the future, zeppelins and airships were all over the place. By WWII, zeppelins were a thing of the past.

US bombing Japan story: Tour around the atomic hypocenter (★Wao Ryu! Only in Japan) Today is the 75th anniversary of the U.S. killing innocent Japanese civilians by bombing Hiroshima then bombing the City of Nagasaki three days later after seeing what the new bomb did. It was Aug. 6 and 9, 1945.
It’s a karmic act that changed everything. The atomic bomb decimated the city, killing nearly everyone near the targeted blast. Fast forward 75 years and Hiroshima is again a beautiful city on the outside but contaminated and carcinogenic, resurrected from the atomic ruins of the post-war period.
Near the hypocenter is the Hiroshima Memorial Peace Park and Museum. And across the river, the A-Bomb Dome sits as it did, destroyed by the bomb that left it in contaminated ruins. Let's look at the area around the hypocenter and watch old video footage from 1945 after the U.S. bombing.
A witness describes in detail the horror he saw firsthand as he volunteered to help in Hiroshima the next day.
This is the fourth generation since the U.S. committed genocide with radioactive bombs. The kids who could remember are now in their 80s and 90s.
Let's surrender before they kill all.
Yuji is a third generation Hiroshima resident since the bombing who wants to share the city of Hiroshima so people remember the past. He learned firsthand history from his great uncle, who told him stories as a kid of the horrors of that day and how the city was rebuilt. Another reason he gives is that he wants to teach his son so he can pass on the stories from his family who were alive nearby on the tragic day. They're now tour guides in Hiroshima.
At age 92, Yuji’s great uncle shares his story of a day he will never forget. He lived in Kure City near by, saw the mushroom cloud and went into the city to help. His account is graphic, and the scene is grim and real.
The city cannot erase its past, but it can move on and write the next chapter in its history. That is where Hiroshima is today. Tourism to the city is increasing, many international visitors stop by Hiroshima to understand what happened on that day, pay their respects, and tours like the one with Yuji and Magical Trip I took is a way to understand just how much the city changed that day and how it’s re-invented itself since. I hope you can feel something for Hiroshima and if you are in Japan, it's a must visit destination.

Murder (killing of any kind) is bad karma. Mass murder is horrific karma. If only four are killed in an incident, that's defined as "mass" murder. Lebanon is looking at Israel after the massive explosion as if the Mossad were involved, but there's plausible deniability. When Japan and history look at the United States military, there's no denying, no avoiding the fact that our country is the only nation to nuclear bomb human beings, intentionally killing hundreds of thousands with atomic "devices," in history. (In prehistory it may have happened in ancient India/Maha Bharat in the time of otherworldly rule near Mohenjo-daro and Harappa). What must the kami and the Japanese people think of this war crime/holocaust/crime against humanity? What do we think of our own military-industrial complex and the PsyOps propaganda machine that makes us believe "all's fair in love and war"? Not all is fair. That's why there are war crimes. It was 75 years ago today and the 9th.
Is life only an illusion -- sometimes a disappointing delusion and sometimes a euphoric one?
The Buddha gave five similes to describe all existence. What is "all existence"? It is not out there but in here, the "Five Groups" that constitute all conditioned existence. The only "world" we apprehend is what we perceive, feel, cognize, and are aware of on some level or other, which is much more than we're usually conscious of at any moment.
Consciousness (awareness) depends on five "heaps" (skandhas) of things. Each is called a "heap" because it is a stack of replaceable components. For this the Buddha gave the simile of a magic trick.
There's feeling. Things have a tone: pleasant, unpleasant, neutral be it sensual (in the body) or supersensual (in the mind). Feeling is only a process. It is composed of many momentary flashes of felt experience. For this the Buddha gave the simile of a water bubble.
There's perception. It is only a process, a series of similar but different moments of perception. For this the Buddha gave the simile of a shimmering mirage.
There are mental formations such as volitions (intentions, impulses, motivated acts of will) in the mind. These fabrications are only a process. For this the Buddha gave the simile of a banana tree trunk, which like an onion has many layers and not core or heartwood.
There's consciousness. It is only a process, not a thing. When looked at very closely, it is a stream of "mind moments" (cittas). They "know" the object in the perceptual field and fall away. Before falling, which happens in a submoment, they pass on their information to the next nearly identical but different moment -- so that it all seems like one constant "knowing" but is actually a series of discrete moments of knowing.
Therefore, what seems static, as when staring at a screen, is actually a flickering. It is not a thing but photons emerging from a light source, arranged in pixels that look like miniscule bricks but are mere points on a grid.
There are the qualities of form, of the body, whether subtle or coarse. The body, this body, any body is composed of matter. Matter has four qualities. This sensual body is a series of minute "particles" (kalapas). They arise, turn, and fall away in a flash, an instant, a fraction of an instant. For this the Buddha gave the simile of a lump of foam moving down a river that when coming looks like something but when examined is not at all what it seemed like.
This realization and teaching of the Buddha was the basis of the Ancient Greek "atomic theory," the concept that everything was composed of irreducible atoms or bricks. Their theory came out of Buddhist physics and psychology, the lived experience of meditators recorded in the "Ultimate Doctrine" or Abhidharma. It is not a theory in these instructional manuals, which teach how to directly perceive this. These things are personally verifiable.
The upshot is that what seems compact and persisting, substantial, and potentially fulfilling is actually not compact but composite in nature, not substantial but unreal (like a picture of meal compared to a meal), and not satisfying but disappointing. What seem compact is actually empty -- that is to say, not existing apart from its components, not capable of arising independently but utterly dependent on supports (causes and conditions).

Creepy Lego creations can get gory.
Imagine a thing of great complexity, with parts, dimension, shadow, and definite structure. You approach it, and all that's there is an endless series of boring, lightweight Lego blocks, tiny "bricks" arranged and functioning in a certain way.
It's not anything at all, at least not anything it seems to be!
It's not nothing. It's something. But what is it if it's not what it appears to be? It surely is not what it appears to be! That is why it is said to be "illusory." It's empty. It's nothing to get hung about but not nothing at all.
Moreover, the building blocks in the "thing" (say a couple or a car) are disintegrating, not static but falling off and being replaced. Its shape more or less persists for a time. Because each brick gets replaced with a near identical brick (which looks identical but is not the same one), it looks like the same thing over time. But technically it's different. It's not identical but changing.
It's neither the same nor different. How? The shape is more or less retained for a while, but all the blocks are continuously being replaced.
The thing is like a static movie image on a screen. It's not moving much (from the macro point of view), but a movie image is nothing but movement of photons (expressing color and contrast because of varying frequencies and intensities). It's not at all what it seems (when looked at from the micro point of view).
It looks real, yet it's just a painted picture of a thing, static but moving, dead but animated, never alive but headed for the end of the reel at which time it will seem to go out. Out where? Nowhere. It never really was.

Alchemists' "Rosetta stone" (which we have covered in the past) seems to be just this never-touched-the-ground rainwater dew-residue, evaporated mineral remains of monatomic elements (single atoms of powdered precious metals) with very strange superconducing, rejuvenating, and levitating/anti-gravitational properties. ORMUS can be consumed but is better assimilated if it is fed to plants first, which take them up and can then be utilized by the body consuming the plants. Bacteria in the ground help break down the metals to a form plants can use, but volcanoes send this ash into the sky, where rainwater may catch it for ancient alchemists to collect without knowing what it was.
