Dead: Grateful Dead's Weir, 'Dilbert' creator

Chariots of the Gods?
This world has lost Erich von Däniken, influential author of Chariots of the Gods?. Swiss author Erich Anton Paul von Däniken (April 14, 1935–January 10, 2026) was the author of several scientific (critics deem "pseudoscientific") books that claimed extraterrestrial (ET) influences on early human culture, including the bestselling Chariots of the Gods?, which was published in 1968. Däniken was one of the main figures responsible for popularizing the ancient astronauts or "paleo-contact" hypothesis. More

Science finds new birthplace of marijuana

(Shi Heng Yi) The last video about cannabis and spirituality we need (a motivational speech)

Might medicinal have saved her?
The human species has had a close relationship with cannabis (marijuana, flower, weed, pot, ganja) for thousands of years. In fact, it is among the earliest plants humans cultivated.

Yet, it has also had a turbulent and controversial history due to the psychoactive properties of some varieties. Other varieties, such as hemp, are low in THC, yet proved to be the perfect crop for textiles and industrial applications.
Largest hemp field in Europe (wiki)
So many varieties arose over time that the line was blurred between wild and cultivated strains.

However, a research team recently uncovered new insights into how Cannabis sativa first arose and how it eventually split into the different varieties known today. These novel insights into the ancient origins of cannabis have provided a new perspective on the evolution of this incredibly versatile plant.

Cannabis Cowboys of the Old West

The Untold Story of Cannabis Cowboys | Smoking Cannabis the Wild West Way
The Natives said it's moxibustion medicine.
  • (Legacy Capsule) May 1, 2025: UNITED STATES. Explore the rugged landscapes of the Wild West, a time when cowboys roamed freely, outlaws held sway, and an unexpected secret flourished: cannabis (aka marijuana). From Mexican laborers to defiant frontiersmen, this plant transcended its medicinal use to become a vital aspect of life. But how did it influence the Old West, and why has it been overlooked [by American historians]? Let's delve into the concealed history of cannabis cowboys and the role of marijuana in the Wild West.
Let's finish here then go get high as a mother...
  • In the 16th century, cannabis made its way to the Western hemisphere, introduced by Spaniards, who brought it to Chile, South America, primarily for [hemp] fiber production. In North America, the Spanish also cultivated cannabis, focusing on hemp across various farms [hempsteads]. During the early [British] colonial era, hemp emerged as a vital crop for farmers. Alongside tobacco, it became a significant export long before the American Revolution began. This journey started in 1611 when the first settlers of Jamestown, Virginia, transported several [cannabis] plants across the Atlantic. By 1619, King James I urged the American colonists in Jamestown to enhance their cultivation efforts to benefit England. The Virginia Company, which managed Jamestown, instructed landowners to grow and send 100 hemp plants to meet England's demands. Over time, colonists expanded their hemp farming to strengthen England's foothold in the Americas.
How researchers figured out the ancient origins of cannabis
Drug abuse gives drug use a bad name -- making addicts out of users in search of dopamine.
.
Wait, this "weed" was a long-trusted medicine?
For the study, the researchers analyzed 110 different cannabis genomes from around the world. Using state-of-the-art DNA sequencing technology, they were able to gain a better understanding of how Cannabis sativa diversified over time.

Through an analysis of the DNA sequences, the researchers were able to develop phylogenetic family trees that define the connections among various cannabis lineages. These maps reveal that there was a gradual evolution into four cannabis groups that are genetically distinct from one another.

The most interesting aspect of this study was the identification of "basal cannabis," a foundational group that had up to that point eluded detection among research groups.

'Shatter' cannabis dangers
(ITV News) Dab, shatter, butane honey oil (THC) invades suburban UK
  • Hash oil dabbing: Highly potent, dangerous to deal, and extremely explosive (because of the butane in its production), Gregg Easteal explains how "shatter" poses a triple-threat as a deadly new breed of weed and a haunting form of merry-Juana.
Basal cannabis is regarded as a sister group to other varieties and is genetically distinct from psychoactive and hemp cannabis types. The basal cannabis group includes traditionally-bred local landrace varieties still currently found in parts of China, in addition to feral strains.
  • Dr. James Adams, USC, Chumash medicine man
As reported earlier by Wisdom Quarterly (Medicinal Plants Workshop with Dr. Adams), USC's Dr. James Adams' realized that the old slang name for cannabis, Spanish Marijuana or "Mary Jane" (Maria Juana), is not of Mexican origin as assumed by many and promoted by police and governmental agencies like the FBI (think government propaganda film Reefer Madness); the original name is Chinese in origin, ma huang.
  • (Cecilia Garcia and Dr. Adams)
We've all been lied to about "marijuana." We've been told it's a Spanish word used by Mexicans in North America (Mexico itself being in North America or Mesoamerica, not Central or South America) that means "Mary Jane." That's a lie, a purposeful piece of propaganda by the US government. Dr. Adams is a fluent daily speaker of Chinese who has been married to a Chinese woman for 42 years. He is able to demonstrate that "marijuana" is a Chinese term for cannabis: Má is "hemp," there's a middle part for "leaf" (ri or li), and hua or huáng means "flower." The Chinese were using cannabis for 12,000 years (as had neighboring India) or had historical records extending back that far for its medicinal and industrial use. Similarly, jasmine flower in Chinese is mo li hua. [Further proof: The medicinal plant stimulant, vital for nasal conditions, ephedra has a Chinese name (máhuáng), which literally translates as "hemp yellow." Case closed.]
Plant nootropics are better than synthetic pharma

Map of East Asia next to Central Asia
The researchers believe that basal cannabis resembles wild varieties that grew before human agricultural intervention more than any other variety.

In fact, the two share genetic markers that are not observed in contemporary cultivated strains. Based on their findings, the researchers suggest that East Asia was the place where cannabis was first cultivated.

This new finding overturns previously held assumptions that the plant was first cultivated in Central Asia [where the Buddha was born in ancient Gandhara/Afghanistan].

Cannabis sativa versus Cannabis indica: the greatest lie ever told?

I could have lived? Nature has cures?
They further determined that the split between basal cannabis and cultivated varieties likely happened almost 12,000 years ago.

To put that time frame into perspective, this period coincides with the beginning of agricultural practice itself, during the dawn of the Neolithic period.

Furthermore, it was around 4,000 years ago that hemp and psychoactive varieties split from a common branch on the tree.

California man 'cured' of cancer, HIV (AIDS)

Editors, Wisdom Quarterly; Jess Cockerill, ScienceAlert.com, 2/25/24; MSN.com

Wrong "medical" advice comes at a HIGH price.
The medical industry, a for-profit business endeavor, tells us things are incurable.

It further says, settle for a treatment because all we can offer is alleviation of symptoms through "sorcery" (poison pharmaceutical intervention), surgery, radiation: burn, kill, cut off things in the body, block enzymatic processes, destroy the liver trying to protect and keep us alive in spite of the efforts of allopathic prescriptions and procedures.
  • BIBLICAL SORCERY: The word pharmacy (pharmaceuticals, pharmacology) is derived from Greek word φάρμακον, pharmakon, meaning "poison" or "drug," together with -λογία, logia, which means "knowledge of" or the "study of" [3,4]. (Compare with the etymology of "pharmacy"). Pharmakon is related to pharmakos, the ritualistic sacrifice or exile of a human scapegoat or victim in Ancient Greek religion. As in the Vietnam War, the authorities as, "What can we kill in you, or for you, to "save" you?
We never said it "cured" anything!
It might not be so bad if they worked as promised. They don't. So the promises are kept to a minimum. Nothing in the headline says "cure." Shut up, take this, pay the bills when we send them, and if you pass away, well, at least we tried. So you can't sue us.

In fact, it has become illegal to refer to anything as a "cure." Nothing cures. And Big Pharma has no interest in "cures" because they make no money that way; money is made by endless "treatments," with medications or interventions we stay on the rest of our miserable lives.
  • How foolish are knee replacements putting metal in the body that at best can last ten years and at worst will soon need to be redone for big profits to the surgeon and hospital?
Capitalism is the "cure" for poor executives.
And if Big Pharma stumbles on a cure by accident, like the cancer cure it once found in a patented medicine that already went into the public domain and therefore could not be milked for profits and exploited by a private corporation, it backpedals and explains why it can't be used.

How about safe and effective antiparasitic Ivermectin for Covid? Fuhgeddaboudit. So how to explain today's ScienceAlert headline that a California man is now free of HIV [~AIDS] and cancer in astonishing medical recovery?

Stem cells can "cure" incurable diseases?
I may look sickly but I'm alive and healthier than this doctor. Paul Edmonds (center) with doctors Jana K. Dickter and Monzr M. Al Malki (City of Hope, Duarte, California)
.
More shots!? - If this doesn't kill you, you'll live
On the list of illnesses that nobody wants, cancer and HIV [AIDS] both rank pretty high, and Californian man Paul Edmonds had both.

But ever since one particular [stem cell] "treatment" five years ago, he's been free of both cancer and HIV. The patient is now considered in remission from acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).

Let's see how TOXIC we can make this batch.
In another two years, he could be considered "cured" of HIV, as that will mark five years from his last treatment.

To celebrate, the medical team behind his astonishing recovery have published a letter describing the case in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Cancer-curing mushroom is Himalayan Viagra

BBC News, July 17, 2018; CC Liu, Sheldon S., Ashley Wells (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Bhutanese Buddhist monasteries are strange since someone discovered "Himalayan Viagra."

A mushroom aphrodisiac? It cures cancer or in any case treats it? Today the BBC News in America (Los Angeles version) did a story on "Himalayan Viagra" in Nepal. Talk about blue ba... It turns out this wasn't the first time the BBC covered the world's most expensive fungus, cordyceps, a zombie fungus spread by ants to caterpillars in a move reminiscent of toxoplasmosis, the cat-poop disease millions of American women are suffering from without knowing it, as a parasite zombifies their brains and makes them act out in dangerous ways (all so the parasite can complete its life cycle, moving between two opposing species of animals, mice to cats).
.
The perilous search for 'Himalayan Viagra'
(BBC News) More valuable than gold, yarsagumba (cordyceps) fungus is only found in the Himalayan mountains above 10,000 feet (3,000 meters). It is called "Himalayan Viagra" (Ophiocordyceps sinensis). Every spring poor peasant people come from miles around to search for the precious crop, which [in 2018] sold for more than $100 a gram (and now sells for US $280 a gram, with 1,000 grams being in a kilo or kg) across Asia and the U.S. Produced by: Aamir Peerzada. Shot/edited: Neha Sharma.

Skyrocketing cost
(Wiki edited by WQ) In 2013 the world's most expensive fungus (more valuable than European truffles) was 125,000–500,000 yuan per kilogram.

Because of its high value, inter-village conflicts over access to its grassland habitats has become a headache for the local governing bodies and in several cases people were killed.

In November 2011, a court in Nepal convicted 19 villagers over the murder of a group of farmers during a fight over the prized aphrodisiac fungus. Seven farmers were killed in the remote northern District of Manang in June 2009 after going to forage for yarcha-gumba [32].

Are these mushrooms blue? Like my ba...
Its value gave it a role in the Nepalese Civil War, as the Nepalese Maoists and government forces fought for control of the lucrative export trade during the June–July harvest season [33].

Collecting yarcha gumba in Nepal had only been legalized in 2001, and now demand is highest in countries such as China, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, and Japan.

By 2002, the insect "herb" was valued at R 105,000 rupees ($1,435) per kilogram, allowing the government to charge a royalty of R 20,000 ($280 tax per kilogram).
  • Currently it can be found on amazon.com for $277.78 per ounce. It's not vegan. It's a dead insect full of fungus, killed by an ant and enervated by mycelium. But American entrepreneur Ron Teeguarden traveled to the Himalayas, found it, figured out a way to produce a VEGAN version of the mycelia, moved to Bhutan, married a Bhutanese Buddhist woman, went into business in America and Bhutan, and now has a fine line of tonic herbs under the brand name Dragon Herbs (DragonHerbs.com). It is much more reasonably priced, as it can be grown indoors in a tub without killing caterpillars or any other insect.

Dr. Royal Rife found cure for all viruses

Dr. Royal Raymond Rife
(BCTV.org) BCTV.org, July 15, 2019. E.J. Jackson talks about the life and work of inventor, researcher, microbiologist, and optical technician Dr. Royal Raymond Rife. He built the only known microscope that could see live viruses. Later scanning electron microscopes could also see them but not with inadvertently destroying them so that all was really being seen were mummified viruses and debris. Dr. Rife realized that he could send wave frequencies to destroy any virus and watch it being destroyed with his microscope, an invention composed of 6,000 parts. This was circa 1930 in Pasadena, California.

Humor in Religion: Alan Watts (audio)

AlanWatts.org via Roy of Hollywood Tuckman (archive.KPFK.org); Editors, Wisdom Quarterly

Buddhist Radio comes on Pacifica Los Angeles (kpfk.org) and plays Alan Watts on Sunday mornings at 8:00 am.

What is the real cause so we can prevent it?
Roy of Hollywood Tuckman's "Something's Happening A and B" comes on most weeknights from midnight to 6:00 am, when we enjoy DemocracyNow.org with Amy Goodman, Juan Gonzalez, and Nermeen Sheikh.

Precious Buddhist talks about meditation and spirituality come on, often courtesy of SoundsTrue.com with Tami Simon. Many famous authors -- such as Jon Kabat-Zinn, Shinzen Young, Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein, Pema Chodron, Joan Halifax, and Alan Watts -- are featured. They are then also available in the Pacifica Archive (archive.kpfk.org) under "Something's Happening" for a few weeks.

There is an industry more interested in making money from disease than "curing" anything.
.
The show goes on for hours, often tackling some of the most important medical issues of the day: vaccines, cures for many "incurable" diseases, wonderful treatment, natural remedies, and things your doctor and dentist will never tell you about because it is not in the financial interest of the medical associations that license and therefore govern all licensed doctors. A doctor would have her/his license pulled and open her/himself to prosecution and censure for telling a truth that cut into the paychecks of colleagues, no matter what harm silence is doing to patients and us all.
