Greta sex scandal? Israel attacks flotilla

Not having sex? You're not the only one

Editor-in-Chief and Co-News Director Danielle Johnson (Eden Prairie HS News)

Not having sex? You’re not the only one

Letter from editor Sydney Lewis
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minnesota - In many ways, Eden Prairie is an above average high school [a real life Sweet Valley High] but not when it comes to sex.

About 35 percent of 11th graders surveyed last spring by the Minnesota Department of Education had had sex before.

Compared to that state-wide average, in the EPHS junior class, 21 percent of males and 14 percent of females have had sex.

How to present boring statistics in a useful way?
These numbers have stayed constant in the past six years, though other numbers relating to relationships have changed.

Peeing in the woods? EOTW
Relationship violence, verbal and physical, has decreased since 2013 for every surveyed group at EPHS except for 11th grade females. For this demographic, there has been a slight increase in the number of females who have encountered verbal or physical violence in a relationship.

With heterosexual sex, the biggest concern is often pregnancy. Condom use has significantly improved at EPHS since 2013. In the 2013 survey, 62 percent of female 9th graders who have had sex reported not using a condom the last time. In 2019, that number was 0 percent.

More troublesome data comes from responses from female 11th graders to the same question, whose trend was the inverse of 9th grade girls. The percentage of 11th grade girls who did not use a condom the last time they had sex doubled from 2013 to 2019.

Overall, trends in sex and relationships have neither increased nor decreased drastically.

Pope vows not to allow rape of nuns anymore

Associated Press (ap.org, May 10, 2019); Seth Auberon, Crystal Q. (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Pope Francis speaks during a meeting with the dioceses of Rome, Vatican, May 9, 2019.
Pope vows to fight nun abuse, urges service not servitude
Did the Holy Father tell us to "Just say no"?
VATICAN CITY, Holy See - Pope Francis vowed Friday to combat the sexual abuse [including the rape] of nuns [by celibate Catholic clergy] and urged religious sisters to just say no when clergy want to use them as [sexual hand-] maids.

Pope Francis told 850 superiors of religious orders gathered for the triennial assembly of the International Union of Superiors General [Is Roman Catholicism a militant cult?], the main umbrella group of nuns, that theirs is a vocation of service, not servitude.

US nuns urge church to address sex abuse
The union's president, Maltese Sister Carmen Sammut, told Pope Francis that clergy abuse of sisters was "diffuse in many parts of the world," and included sexual abuse, spiritual abuse, as well as taking of their property.

Ssiter Sammut added that there were also cases of [lesbian/cruel] nuns abusing other nuns [and children under their authority or care].

I was an abused nun, so I like to abuse nuns.
Pope Francis said sexual abuse of sisters was "a serious, grave problem" of which he was well aware. "We have to fight this, and also the service of religious sisters: Please: Service yes, servitude no."

Pope Francis noted that sometimes the problem lies with the superior herself, a reference to cases where religious superiors submitted to demands placed on them by [aggressive] bishops, to the detriment of her own sisters and novices.

"You didn't become a sister to become a priest's [sex playmate or] maid," Pope Francis told the sisters in a Vatican audience hall.

At least use a condom, Father! (Getty Images)
He said if they want to do domestic work, they should join orders that care for the elderly in old-age homes because "that is service, not servitude."

Pope Francis was also asked about his recent comments about the role of female deacons in the early Christian church. Francis said this week that scholars on a Vatican commission looking into the role of women... More

Ireland votes in landslide to lift abortion ban

Joshua Everett, Henry Holloway (dailystar.co.uk, May 26, 2018); Wisdom Quarterly
A two-to-one margin has so far backed the liberalizing change in Friday's referendum, with the vast majority of constituencies returned.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said the consensus included men and women and nearly all social classes and age groups.

The question on the ballot asked citizens to opt to either retain or repeal the Eighth Amendment of the state's constitution, which prohibits terminations [abortions] unless a mother's life is in danger.

Pollsters suggested the stories of women forced to travel to the UK for terminations or take illegal pills obtained on the Internet helped sway public opinion.

It was also fueled by the death of an Indian dentist denied the procedure while she miscarried. More
COMMENTARY
Wisdom Quarterly
Let our position at Wisdom Quarterly be perfectly clear. We are for choice. We are for female empowerment. We oppose abortion. You are the actor (of your karma), and you will face the mental-resultants and fruit of those actions. It's a pity for newborns trying to enter the human plane, but it's a big plane and there will be other opportunities. And ignorance of what sort of karma was being committed will hardly suffice as an excuse to stave off the results. Life begins at conception. Use contraception, and lots of it. Have sex and, if you wish, lots of it. But don't come crying that no one ever said that abortion was a kind of "termination" of life, which is called by most philosophies, ethics panels, and religions a kind of "killing." Hooray for choice! Hooray for women! Boo for the Catholic and Protestant churches. Take a stand not to kill by not getting in the predicament in the first place when it can be avoided. When it can't be avoided and you do not wish to deal with a new life, it's on you. Our societies -- Western, Irish, American -- screw us, some of us very much more than others. We don't say this to be popular. We say it to try to be on the correct side of Truth (not history). Lots more is coming down the Pike. We oppose euthanasia, a misguided form of killing. [To kill requires a moment of aversion or dosa, which is the intention that conditions the action and makes it an intentional-action or karma. The karmic results, and there will be not just one but many, will be unwelcome, unwished for, hard to bear, unpleasant... That is why we oppose it. Don't have kids. You don't need to have kids. But once conception happens, what next? Killing that we don't dare call "killing"?] Why do people kill? There are only three reasons anyone takes a life, and when one or more of these are the roots of an action, one can bet it is bad karma: greed (desire, craving, clinging), hatred (aversion, fear, anger), or delusion (wrong view, ignorance, confusion).

☿ Liberation: Ireland's Condom Train (video)

TheJournal.ie; Dhr. Seven, Crystal Quintero, Pat Macpherson (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

The Contraceptive Train ran on May 22, 1971. Feminists from the Irish Women's Liberation Movement bought condoms, spermicidal jelly, and aspirin (in place of the pill) to give out.

The Condom Train incident
What's the big fuss then? Ya eat these?
There is a new tribute to the 1971 Contraceptive Train, which changed Ireland's sexual landscape forever: a musical has been written about the Irish women's movement.

One Saturday morning in May 1971, 49 Irish women changed the social landscape of Ireland when they took a train from Belfast to Dublin.
Power to ♀☿ of the world!
The women were part of the Irish Women’s Liberation Movement, and they made news all over the world when they brought condoms down from Northern Ireland [UK], while contraception was illegal in the Republic [of Ireland].

It was a landmark moment in the Irish women’s movement, which became known as the contraceptive train. The story is being brought to the stage next month in the form of a musical, The Train.
Beginning split between Church and State
We could use more condoms in U.S.
While contraception was available in the North, the women couldn’t get their hands on the pill on the trip as they didn’t have a prescription, so they bought large amounts of condoms.

They also decided to buy hundreds of aspirin tablets [to mimic the pill] and publicly swallowed them at the station, as customs officials wouldn’t immediately know the difference.

India still won't allow saucy condom ads.
Director of The Train and Rough Magic Artistic Director Lynne Parker said, “The IWLM and The Contraceptive Train marked the beginning of the split between Church and State -- a schism that is ongoing.” More

Hey, YOU, prevent pregnancy with easy contraception. Sign banned in U.S. and Ireland.

Oh, that stupid royal wedding! Congrats, Meg

I. Rony, editors, Wisdom Quarterly; Natalie Ktena (BBC.co.uk, May 18, 2018)
"Put your Harry in to make your Markle sparkle" - Crown Jewels brand condoms.
.
Royal wedding merch: Harry and Meghan condoms, anyone?
Some people will love the sex products -- for others they'll be the definition of "wrong" (so wrong)
My redheaded boy is finally growing up.
Royal weddings often bring out the more eccentric side of the British character. This can manifest in many ways, including:

(a) Developing a sudden desire to have a street bash with neighbours you've never spoken to before (other than to say "Ello, luv" when you find yourself putting the rubbish bins out on the curb at the same time)

(b) Watching two strangers tie the knot on the tele and having me mates over to "celebrate" by watching British reruns:

The Benny Hill Show
WARNING: Sexy depictions of traditional gender roles once popular on U.S. television!

(c) Thinking it's probably OK to drink ale for breakfast as long as it's out of a commemorative mug.

Meghan, we can call him West
While Will's and Kate’s wedding back in 2011 spawned a personalised pizza pie and some souvenir batts (AA), Harry and Meghan Markle memorabilia is scaling new heights of silliness.

In fact, this time around, it seems there’s more weird and wonderful wedding paraphernalia than ever before.

It does of course include the much-derided, unwittingly risqué Harry and Meghan one-piece bikinis [and "Crown Jewels" bran condoms].

Trump: no birth control. India: no condom ads

Ashley Wells, S.A. Ananda, CC Liu, Seth Auberon (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly; Sanjana Agnihotri (IndiaToday.in); DailyDot.com; Sunny Leone (video, Wiki); Sayitwithacondom.com; BBC.com
Message to Klansman Fred (Trump's dad): Some people should never have been born (DD).
Think India's uptight Not US is full of prudes, but Trump's America will no longer stand for free birth control! Trump pushes back reproductive rights, rescinds free birth control (BBC).

.
Use...while you're getting screwed
Pres. Don Juan Trump fulfilled a promise to conservative Christians today. He rescinded a key provision of Romneycare (aka "Obamacare," the ACA or "Affordable Care Act") that allowed citizens to exercise their reproductive rights: Trump rolls back free birth control: The new Trump rule could strip birth control coverage from millions of American females, demolishing an Obama provision. VP Pence is very happy since he wants to ban condoms altogether. (See below).

India: Take down those sexy condom ads!
Filthy and shocking pornographic ad suggests using condoms during holy Navratri (IT)
.
I did it for the money. Why are they mad?
Sunny Leone condom ad that says "Khelo magar pyaar se [Play with love] this Navratri" stirs controversy. [The playful meaning here is "Whatever you do this holiday, do it with love," nudge-nudge, wink-wink.] The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has accused Sunny Leone of being irresponsible and going to "any level irrespective of pious and religious occasion of Navratri" to earn money.

    Former porn actress Sunny Leone
Who in the world is Sunny Leone? Karenjit Kaur Vohra (1981-), known by her stage name Sunny Leone, is a former pornstar with American citizenship. She is a Canadian-born Sikh Indian-American actress and model, currently active in the Indian film industry ("Bollywood"). She has also used the stage name Karen Malhotra. She was named porn magazine Penthouse's Pet of the Year in 2003, was a contract performer for pornographers Vivid Entertainment, and was named by porn-lite Maxim magazine one of the Top 12 porn stars in 2010. She has played roles in independent mainstream films and TV shows. Her first mainstream appearance was in 2005, when she worked as a red carpet reporter for the MTV Video Music Awards on MTV India.

I may be Indian, but I do what I want (SL).
Indian men have a love-hate relationship with Sunny Leone, the brand ambassador of Manforce condoms. Using sanskaar as their shield, these men harp about how un-sanskaari she is.

Manforce put up banners across Gujarat that had Sunny Leone advertising condoms with a tagline that mentions Navratri. This did not go down well with some people. CAIT wrote a letter to the Minister for Consumer Affairs Ram ["God"] Vilas Paswan calling this tactic a "clear irresponsible and immature attempt to boost sales by putting all our cultural value system at stake." CAIT wants the ad to be banned now. More
How conservative Vice President Mike Pence feels about condoms...Ban them!
Why do you and Trump want to BAN condoms? - They're "too modern and too liberal"!
In America, we get our condoms the old-fashioned way. We steal them.
.
BBC: Why is a condom ad with Sunny Leone angering Indians?
What's the big deal? Men are hypocrites.
A condom company has been forced to pull down an advertisement promoting their popular Manforce brand ahead of the major Hindu festival of Navratri in the western state of Gujarat after protests by some Indians.

The BBC's Geeta Pandey in Delhi explains the controversy: Just days before the nine-day festival was to begin on Thursday, huge billboards went up in several cities in the state in which the Canadian actress of Indian origin Sunny Leone is seen advising people to "Play this Navratri, but with love [Aa Navratriye ramo, paraantu prem thi]."

OMKrishna, I didn't realize she was a pornstar!
A former porn star who has made a successful transition to the role of leading lady in hit Bollywood movies, Ms. Leone has a massive fan following in India.

And she is now the brand ambassador for Manforce, the country's biggest condom company.

American nuns agree with Rev. Trump and India's conservatives: no condoms!
.
I'm huge, nuns. That I can assure you.
The advert outraged some conservative Indians who accused the contraceptive firm of "taking marketing to an all-time low."

Many took to social media sites to criticize the "offending advert" and the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) even lodged a complaint with the government, calling for an immediate ban on it.

"This is an irresponsible and immature attempt to boost sales by putting all our cultural values at stake," the organization said in a petition to Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan.

Speaking to the BBC on Wednesday, CAIT general secretary Praveen Khandelwal said: "Navratri is a pious festival which symbolizes the strength of women [by honoring Goddess/Devi Durga, and linking condoms with the festival is highly objectionable." More
