A Man's World? Polyandry in Shangri-La

One queen with many kings?
Tibet Travel (Tibet Vista) [Guide Jamyang was traveling on the Lost Horizon and] found the lost Shangri-La (Tibetan Shambhala, Western Paradise Lost), and their secret to happiness seems to be polyandry (multiple husbands for each woman).

POLYANDRY (Ancient Greek πολύ, polú, "many" + ἀνήρ, anḗr, "man") is a form of polygamy in which a female takes two or more husbands at the same time.

Polyandry is contrasted with polygyny, involving one male and two or more females. If a marriage involves a plural number of "husbands and wives" participants of each gender, then it can be called polygamy [1], group or conjoint marriage [2].
  • Anything he can do, I...
Let's not forget the beautiful practice of polyamory for those who can overcome the venoms of envy and jealousy.
In its broadest use, polyandry refers to sexual relations with multiple males within or without marriage.

Of the 1,231 societies listed in the 1980 Ethnographic Atlas,
  • 186 were found to be monogamous,
  • 453 had occasional polygyny,
  • 588 had more frequent polygyny, and
  • 4 had polyandry [3].
Polyandry is more frequent (less rare) than this figure suggests because it considered only those examples found in the Himalayan Buddhist mountain region (8 societies).

Feminine female power!
More recent studies have found at least 4 other societies practicing polyandry [4]. Fraternal polyandry is practiced among Tibetans in Nepal and parts of China, in which two or more brothers are married to the same female (wife), with that wife having equal sexual access to them [5, 6].

It is associated with partible paternity, the cultural belief that a child can have more than one [legal] father [4].

Several ethnic groups practicing polyandry in India identify their customs with their descent from the female Draupadi, a central character of the Mahabharata (revered in Hinduism) who was married to five brothers, although local practices may not be fraternal themselves.

One husband, one wife? - How bad is a good marriage? Be honest, completely honest

Adam's Eve was his "rescuer."
WHY? Polyandry is believed to be more likely in societies with scarce environmental resources. It is believed to limit human population growth and enhance child survival [6, 7]. It is a rare form of marriage that exists among elite and peasant families [8].

For example, polyandry in the predominantly Buddhist Himalayan mountains is related to the scarcity of land. The marriage of all brothers in a family to the same wife allows family land to remain in the same family's hads undivided.

If every brother married separately and had children, family land would be split into unsustainably small plots.

In contrast, very poor persons who do not own land are less likely to practice polyandry in Buddhist India's Ladakh and Zanskar [6].

In Europe, the splitting up of land was prevented through the social practice of impartible inheritance. With most siblings disinherited, many of them became celibate monks and priests [9]. Buddhism seems to have had a better solution, though the vast majority of male and female Tibetan Buddhists at one time or other became Vajrayana monastics at least for some part of their lives. More

Tibetan girl came from Shangri-La

There are at least two "Shangri-Las," the mythical and one called Shangri-La, Yunnan, China along the Yangtze River, where marriages arranged by caring families are the norm. Where's Dong Dong?

Lost Horizon (James Hilton)
Shangri-La is a fictional place in Tibet's Kunlun Mountains [1], or mythological Kunlun, described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by the British author James Hilton.

Hilton portrays Shangri-La as a mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a Buddhist lamasery, enclosed in the western end of the Kunlun Mountain [1].

In the novel, the people who live in Shangri-La are almost immortal, living hundreds of years beyond the normal lifespan and only very slowly ageing in appearance [possibly in our Hollow Earth, called Agartha, or on another dimension within this world].

Shangri-La has become synonymous with any earthly paradise, particularly a mythical Himalayan Buddhist utopia -- an enduringly happy land, isolated from the world.

Ancient Tibetan Buddhist scriptures mention Nghe-Beyul Khembalung [2], one of seven utopian beyuls which Tibetan Buddhists believe were established in the 9th century AD by Padmasambhava as hidden, sacred places of refuge for Buddhists during times of strife [3]. More

Happy 89th birthday, Dalai Lama (7/6)

Suck it, Boy, suck it in front of everyone. C'mon, suck my tongue! - Isn't it bad enough we kiss?
Dalai Lama tells boy to suck his tongue, Apologizes for teasing mim (mustsharenews.com)
The fun-loving Dalai Lama gets a dance lesson from Christian Archbishop Desmond Tutu
.
(DalaiLama.com) Is "His Holiness," the current Dalai Lama Mr. Tenzin Gyatso, lucid enough to rule the USA? Here he is, honored in New York City, a beloved ally of the US military-industrial complex.

Tell them I'm good, Georgie.
Compared to enfeebled, demented, and ever so slightly senile Genocide Joe Biden, Tibet's spiritual leader (and former temporal leader or "god-king," "pope-emperor"), who at one time was in cahoots with the CIA (it's true) as an active "operative," fighting a proxy-war with China, turns 89 today, July 6th, 2024.

I had to do what I had to do for my people.
His great friendship with former U.S. Pres. G.W. Bush, the son of the former CIA Chief and former Pres. G.H.W. Bush, shows how he keeps close to power, a savvy move for a politician though an unsavory one for a spiritual leader, who seems to care not a wit that G.W. and his associates are war criminals.

The CIA paid me lots of $$
The Dalai Lama is not the "pope" of Buddhism. In fact, he is simply the church leader, a cardinal or bishop (rinpoche), of one school of Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism known as the Yellow Hats. But his origin story is that he is the 14th rebirth of Avalokiteshvara, the "Bodhisattva of Compassion," neither enlightened nor universally honored even in Tibet. One group (Shugden Dorje followers of the Gelug school) hates him, as hard as that may be to imagine because he is so well spoken and kind, almost as if he were trained to be likeable, a politician, a wise meditator, and a savvy media personality from a very young age. Oh yeah, he was a tulku, after all, a candidate sought out and trained since childhood.
  • Why would the Jewish Beastie Boys fund or help promote a film about children inducted into Tibetan monasticism? 'Unmistaken Child' quest at Dalai Lamas' behest (sfgate.com)
  • If Wisdom Quarterly could ask him anything, what would it ask?
  • Would we have to ask it through Prof. Robert Thurman (tibethouse.us) or actor Richard Gere?
  • No, directly ask him himself.
  • Oh, in that case, we would ask him, "What did the Dalai Lama say to the pizza maker when he ordering his pie?"
  • Why?
  • Well, that should keep him and his interpreters busy for a good long while.
  • No, seriously.
  • We would have to ask him if it had been worth it working for the CIA.
  • But that's taboo. He's the king!
  • Why is it taboo? He admits it (just as Pope Benedict admitted to being a member of Germany's Hitler Youth in his childhood), even if other well-meaning Buddhists try to hide the fact to preserve his public image. No wonder China is mad.
  • Come on, be serious.
  • We'd ask him one of these 18 burning questions people want to ask God.
  • More serious.
  • Okay, we would ask him what George W. Bush is really like. Is he as stupid as he seems, or are BUSH, DICK, and COLON nice fellows, even if they committed war crimes?
  • Are you mad at His Holiness?
  • The Dalai Lama loves children just like Jesus.
No, but seeing him playfully molest (massage the pre-pubescent penis of) the Unmistaken Child in the documentary of the same name was upsetting, making one wonder how similar Tibetan Vajrayana and Roman Catholic monasticism are, two cults dedicated to pederasty so much so that no involved seems to notice how much it would offend the general public not part of their secret sexual rites.
  • Does the Dalai Lama to tantric sex? With children?
  • Yab-yum: tantra for holy union
Sadly, although the Dalai Lama himself tells the truth and says he is just a simple monk who meditates everyday like any other monk (is not enlightened), and that he accepted money for years from the CIA (but it's not something he thinks about, just another source of international funding, probably with no strings attached, none whatsoever), and rather than molesting children in his room, palace, Dharamsala mansion, he exhibits it for all to see how innocent it is for a nearly 90 year old man to swap spit with a male minor, but his handlers and defenders want to lie for him and deny any facts inconvenient to the narrative.
Holy artifact and likeness dispenses blessings
Given what Dr. David Ammon Hillman has uncovered in the Ancient Greek texts about earliest Christianity, is it any wonder what these patriarchies/misogynistic all-boys clubs (the Vatican in the Holy See and Potala Palace in Lhasa) are up to? If the "pontiff" could talk about that, it would be nice. But all the Roman pontiff does is ask, "Who am I to judge?" and the Tibetan one just laughs heartily. This is why church and state should always be kept separate.

Make out with me. Come on, I'm the boss, and I say it's okay to swap spit. Here, you suck first.
Dalai Lama faces backlash over video telling child to ‘suck’ his tongue (atheistrepublic.com)
.
Some Tibetans dislike him a lot.
The USA has fought China helped Tibet for a long time, and no one should think that our military and clandestine agencies would allow the Chinese Empire to steal a quarter of its land from its neighbor without a great geopolitical struggle.

This was glorified as was Nazi involvement in Tibet in the movie Seven Years in Tibet with Hollywood movie star Brad Pitt as the principal Nazi befriending the 14th Dalai Lama, though U.S. military involvement -- through CIA agents entering the forbidden land and brokering secret deals with Lhasa -- are conspicuously absent from the American film.

Buddhist lore: Hollow Earth world of Agartha

Finding Agartha: The Search for the Hidden World
in the Center of the Earth
(The Why Files) Premiered Aug. 3, 2023. The Why Files: Operation Podcast Cultures around the world have myths that speak of a mysterious underground kingdom that exists deep within the earth, hidden away from the primitive and violent surface-dwellers: us.

Picture a society untouched by time, unscathed by war, and unaffected by natural disasters. A culture thrives in the vast open spaces inside our Hollow Earth. Throughout history, many have looked for physical evidence of its existence, tempted by stories of a peaceful but powerful subterranean civilization with advanced technology and ancient knowledge long forgotten by modern humans.

This is the story of the underground Kingdom of Agartha and the explorers who’ve said that not only is it a real place, but they know where it is.

Lamas who give Buddhism a bad name

Mary Finnigan (The Guardian, 10/12); Ashley Wells, CC Liu, Seth Auberon (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Hey, these are just allegations! - But they're proven, your Holiness. - Well, so what? Mahayana says it is sin to talk anything that makes my perpetrators religion look bad! ["The Dalai Lama has warned against being seduced into Tibetan Buddhism by its exotic tantric aura." (Phil Noble/Reuters)]

.
Lamas who give Tibetan Buddhism a bad name
Don't be taken in by the "Shangri La factor." If seeking Buddhist guidance, choose your teacher and tradition with great care.
Tibetan Buddhist is like Roman Catholic
[Tibet's Potala Palace was almost exactly like Rome's Vatican, a haven of sexual abuse at the center of a large former empire that continued its rule in religious guise, Imperial Tibetan Buddhism and Imperial Roman Catholicism, respectively. The Vatican in the Holy See is infamous for homosexuality and child molestation/pederasty, whereas Tibetan Buddhists in exile from their palace in Lhasa seem to prefer the heterosexual abuse of Western seekers. Here we see some of the recent scandals from the British newspaper The Guardian.]

The Dalai Lama is backed by the CIA and USA.
In response to a surge of interest in Tibetan Buddhism among Western spiritual seekers, Kagyu Samye Ling was founded in Scotland in 1976 by the late Kalu Rinpoche, who re-died in 1989.

Within the last two years [2010-2012] his tulku, or "reincarnation," the present (reborn) Kalu Rinpoche, has assumed responsibility for the institutions set up by his predecessor (allegedly himself).

However, during the new Kalu's childhood the situation at Kagyu Samye Ling allegedly deteriorated to the point where it no longer functioned as a Buddhist center.

Good to have friends in high places, Pres. Bush
The young Kalu fired Lama Tempa Dargye and five other resident Bhutanese lamas, replacing them with Westerners and a "collegiate" system of control and responsibility.

Controversy at Kagyu Samye Ling might have died down – except for the fact that a woman known as Sandrine decided to tell her story of rape and sexual violence to the gendarmerie [French military police].

At first she was a lone voice, but recently three more women decided to testify; Lama Tempa Dargye was arrested and the police investigation is ongoing.

The scandalous events at Kagyu Ling are currently making headlines in France, but Tibet-watchers worldwide are aware that many more scandals have surfaced since the Tibetan lamas fled their homeland in the late 1950s, following the violent Chinese invasion and takeover of Tibet.

My dad, Trungpa, had sex with women. Me, too.
For examples, in the USA followers of the late sexually-abusive Trungpa Chogyam Rinpoche [founder of the cultish and scandal-ridden Shambhala organization taken over by his son, Sakyan Mipham Rinpoche, who stepped down after rape and sexual abuse allegations only to recently reinstate himself with tacit board approval] were horrified to learn that his appointed successor, the late Thomas Rich appeared to have infected several people with HIV.

In 1994 the high-profile Tibetan lama Sogyal Rinpoche was sued in California for sexual assault by a woman known as Janice Doe. The suit was settled out of court with substantial damages paid to the plaintiff.

Rumors about Sogyal's sexual exploits have circulated on the Internet ever since. In Canberra, Australia, a respected Tibetan guru called Lama Choedak was forced to make a public apology after multiple affairs with his female students came to light.

OK, maybe I shouldn't have got caught.
In the UK Michael Lyons, aka Mohan Singh, is serving 10 years in prison after being convicted of rape. He posed as a Tibetan lama without authentic qualifications.

The followers of American Geshe Michael Roach, who was ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist monk, attracted media attention when one of them died in bizarre circumstances after being ejected from a three-year retreat at a remote mountain center in Arizona.

"Michael Roach teaches an extremely exaggerated, and from a Buddhist perspective somewhat dubious, form of tantrism," says Lama Jampa Thaye, an Englishman from Manchester who has been teaching Tibetan Buddhism for more than 30 years.

I can explain. It was supposed to be a secret.
The Shangri La factor is undoubtedly significant in the explosion of interest in Tibetan Buddhism (Vajrayana) around the world.

The Dalai Lama's Nobel Peace Prize and his saintly reputation is another. More
The Dalai Lama works/worked for the CIA?

Travel: Lost Horizon to Shangri-La (video)

Pakistan: The Road to Shangri-La
Lost Horizon the book, 1933
This is a utopian mystery documentary about a lost horizon. Legend tells of a utopian Buddhist kingdom hidden among the towering mountains of inner Asia [Central Asia] -- a paradise on Earth yet a place apart, a place of spiritual contentment and long life, a place that’s become known in the West as "Shangri-La."

For centuries, romantics, adventurers, and the devout risked their lives searching for this mythical heaven on Earth [rarely suspecting that it was underneath their feet in our Hollow Earth and its many levels spoken of in the Vedas since before that advent of the historical Buddha].

Lost Horizon the movie, 1937
Many perished in the quest. Those who returned told of a journey through hostile lands, of crossing treacherous mountain passes and desert gorges, in their search for a valley where people live for hundreds of years.

To this day its whereabouts remains a mystery. Host David Adams goes in search of "Shangri-La" -- as described in the famous Western novel Lost Horizon -- in the icy valleys of the Himalayan and Karakoram Mountains in Far North Pakistan, which was part of India until Partition in 1947.

Tibet-Nepal's: Lost Buddhist Caves of Mustang

National Geographic via Wudu1982; Ashley Wells, Crystal Quintero (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Buddhist Lost Cave Temples
A team of climbers and scientists enter the long-hidden chambers of human carved Buddhist caves in Mustang, Nepal (previously a hidden part of Tibet), perched high on cliff faces in the Himalayas.

Was this the fabled Shangri-La? What the team finds is far beyond their expectations. Tibet was once a shamanic Bon-Buddhist empire with its capital in Lhasa, extending from Bangladesh to Mongolia. That it should have secret outposts like this is no surprise.

NAZI Shangri-La: today's New Swabia? (video)

I'm not a German NAZI. I'm an American one
NAZI coin from "future" [or from one of their D.U.M.B.s (Deep Underground Military Bases) in Antarctica] found – sparking claims of parallel universe or WW III.

What and where is New Swabia (German Neuschwabenland)? Could it be Germany's own secret Shangri-La?

Bizarre footage has emerged that proves we may be living in a parallel universe -- according to some tantalizing physical evidence and wild online claims (source: dailystar.co.uk).

Vedic, Buddhist, Hindu, Jain cosmology
More likely than a literal ethereal "parallel universe" is the Buddhist and older Vedic cosmological concept of co-existing worlds on earth situated in concentric circles from a center called Mt. Sumeru.

It is too big to be an actual "mountain" but is more likely electromagnetic, a "mountain" of magnetic lines of force emerging from the inner earth world(s) of Agartha.

UFOmania YouTube
It is amazing that the identity card of a NAZI officer from Germany's secret Antarctica Station 211 has been found! It can now be analyzed for authenticity, if only an uncompromised lab existed to document it and report unbiased results.

Something strange is happening around Antarctica amid negotiations for a new financial system. High strangeness in Antarctica as tunnels as tall as the Eiffel Tower are discovered.
