Good woman marries TREE in Florida

"If they cut down this tree, I'm going to be a widow": Two women "MARRY" giant ficus tree to stop city from cutting it down.
  • Two Florida women "married" a giant ficus tree at a Fort Myers, Florida park.
  • The tree has been in the park for more than a century, but city officials wanted to kill/cut it down because its roots extend to a neighboring lot, on sale for US $1 million.
  • In an effort to save the tree, Karen Cooper and Dana Foglesong decided to marry the tree at a ceremony in front of 50 people.
  • City spokeswoman Stephanie Schaffer said city officials are now moving forward to save their new husband.
