Buddhist statue topples over, crushes religious leader as he unveils it in Thailand
Freak accident in Thailand (Viral Press)
Village Chief Mr. Saman Chanthayothi, 52, was the guest of honor at an unveiling. But as he tugged away the cloth cover, the Buddha statue cracked at its poorly built foundation and fell on his head, killing him instantly.

The statue had allegedly been intended to bring good luck and fortune to local residents. The Buddhist statue collapsed and killed the religious leader in a freak accident (blamed on shoddy construction). He had just unveiled it. The freak accident took place in Thailand yesterday.

Is it ironic if it were a "lucky" Buddha?
The village of Khon Kaen was holding a ceremony where the statue was unveiled on Monday afternoon. The monument was intended to bring good fortune, but as the chief tugged at the cloth to reveal it, the foundations cracked, and the giant Buddha fell onto Saman's head, pinning him to the ground.
