Wu wei (Chinese 無為, simplified Chinese 无为, Pinyin wúwéi) is a concept [popular in Zen Buddhism] from ancient Chinese philosophy that literally means "not-acting" or "non-doing," variously interpreted and translated as actionlessness, inaction, or effortless action [1, 2].
In Taoism, it denotes the nature of Tao, meaning that while the Tao (the way, path, or flow of nature) is the source of all existence and manifestation of all phenomena, its intrinsic formless essence is that it acts or moves in a silent, invisible, ineffable, often-unnoticed manner that may even seem motionless and effortless [3, 4, 5, 6, 7].
Accordingly, Taoists aspire to live their lives in alignment with such a harmonious state of free flowing and unforced activity.
In a political context, it also refers to an ideal form or principle of spontaneous and non-aggressive governance [8]. More

Fo Guang Shan's Hsi Lai Temple, at one time the largest Buddhist temple in the Western hemisphere (a title that may now belong to Chaung Yen Monastery in Upstate New York), is the North American regional headquarters of Fo Guang Shan.
BUILDING THE TEMPLE at its current location in Hacienda Heights, LA County, survived six public hearings and more than 100 community meetings. The umbrella term kung fu (功夫) or wushu (武術) refers to Chinese martial arts. There are several hundred fighting styles that developed over the centuries.
These styles are often classified according to common traits, identified as martial arts "families" (家/jiā), "sects" (派/pài), or "schools" (門/mén).
Examples of these traits include Shaolin-quan (少林拳), physical exercises involving mimicry of the Five Animals (五形), and training methods inspired by old Chinese philosophies, religions (animism, Buddhism, Confucianism, shamanism, Taoism), and legends.
Styles that focus on chi (qi, kyi, prana, spiritus) manipulation are called internal (内家拳/nèijiāquán), while others that concentrate on improving muscle and cardio fitness are called "external" (外家拳/wàijiāquán)....
Fighting Shaolin Temple monks
Shaolin Temple was built in 495 AD on Song Mountain, and the first Buddhist monk who taught Buddhism there was the Indian monk Ven. Buddhabhadra (佛陀跋陀罗/Fótuóbátuóluó), called Batuo (跋陀).
His first two Chinese disciples, Huiguang and Sengchou, had exceptional martial abilities. Sengchou's skill with a tin staff is documented in the Chinese Buddhist canon.
After Ven. Buddhabadra, there came a western South Indian Buddhist monk named Ven. Bodhidharma (菩提达摩/Pútídámó), called Damo (达摩). It was 527 AD. His Chinese disciple, Huike, was also a skilled martial arts expert.
The implication is that these first three Chinese Shaolin monks -- Huiguang, Sengchou, and Huike -- may have been military men before entering the Buddhist monastic life.
The Shaolin style of kung fu is regarded as one of the first institutionalized Chinese martial arts.
The oldest evidence of Shaolin participation in combat is a stele from 728 CE. It attests to two occasions, a defense of Shaolin Monastery from bandits around 610 CE, and their subsequent role in the defeat of Wang Shichong at the Battle of Hulao in 621 CE.
However, from the 8th to the 15th centuries, there are no existing documents that provide evidence of Shaolin participation in any combat.More NOTE: The motivational videos uploaded are the result of time and effort. The Maya Biosphere Reserve is home to a large concentration of ancient Maya cities, many of which are under excavation.
Tikal (shown above) is the most famous of these, attracting about 120,000 to 180,000 visitors per year.
The Mirador Basin, in the northern part of the Reserve, contains numerous interconnected Maya cities.
The project is directed by Richard Hansen, an archaeologist at El Mirador, the largest of the sites, dating from the preclassic Maya period. Other cities in the region include El Tintal, Nakbe, and Wakna.
The LiDAR imagery also showed that the Mayans altered the landscape more significantly than previously thought; in some areas, 95% of available land was cultivated (AP).
This discovery has been described as a major breakthrough in Maya archaeology.
It suggests that Central America supported an advanced civilization that, at its peak, was comparable more to the advanced cultures of ancient Greece or China rather than to the disparate city states that ground-based research had long suggested (Nat Geo).

Harvard-educated David H. Kelley, whose paper on the subject was published
posthumously in August, 2016.
Kelley was a Harvard-educated archaeologist and epigrapher at the
