Thai High: Legal weed in Thailand (video)

NYT; ABC News In-depth, Australia, 10/6/22; Seth Auberon, Ashley Wells (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Morphing Monasteries: Buddhism in today's Thailand (The New York Times, 12/23/12) Buddhism has been a way of life in Thailand for centuries, but inside the most popular temples is a trend that critics call "fast-food Buddhism." Article: nyti.ms/XGYUFp

Is Thailand the new weed capital of the world?
(ABC News In-depth) From zero tolerance to decriminalization, Theravada Buddhist Thailand’s recent U-turn on its cannabis laws is lighting up a billion-dollar industry.

Bhante, do you guys accept bud for dana?
Officially weed is for medicinal use only, but the legal grey area means ganja lovers are celebrating. It’s the country that gave us the words "bong" and "ganja."  In Thailand, cannabis has been used for centuries in traditional medicine.

But when the US launched its "war on drugs" in the 1970s, Thailand became a key partner, placing cannabis on its own narcotics list and toughening penalties against it. This June (summer 2022), the country took it off that list, meaning cannabis sellers and recreational users no longer risked jail for selling or possessing cannabis.

Many Westerners took up Thai Forest Tradition
In tourist hotspots, a ganja-culture is fast taking hold. In Bangkok’s Khao San Road [the backpackers' and shoestring travelers' haven] and nightspot, it seems easier to buy a joint than a Pad Thai (which cost about 10 cents for the street version of the dish).

"Now it’s legal. God gave a gift for us," says Choco Gonzales, a cannabis seller in Bangkok. And it’s party time for tourists at the famous full moon party at Koh Phangan in the country’s southeast.

What will Dhammakaya do to save Thailand?
"Wherever you go now, it’s Amsterdam again in Asia," says an Italian tourist at the party. As Australia reignites on its own debate about legalizing cannabis, Southeast Asia correspondent Mazoe Ford travels around Thailand to meet the new crop of "ganja-preneurs" cashing in on the green rush.

In Bangkok, Kitty Chopaka, a shop owner selling cannabis products and a leading advocate of decriminalization, is still pinching herself. "I never thought in my lifetime that this would actually happen…But at the same time I knew it has to be done."

On the southern island of Ko Samui, resort owner Carl Lamb reckons the liberalization of the laws is attracting overseas tourists. "You can really feel it's reinvigorated the market. There's a new energy here."

Ford also hitches a ride on the private jet of the politician behind the policy – Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. He takes us to Thailand’s east to spruik, the medicinal cannabis industry, which the government hopes will become a billion-dollar industry.

“It turned out that majority of my voters chose to vote for my party…some people even called my party [the] ‘Cannabis Party,’” he tells Ford. But not everyone welcomes the change. More than a thousand doctors have warned that the drug was delisted before proper safeguards and regulations were in place.

“We don't want to be the cannabis haven of the world,” say Doctor Chanchai Sittipunt from Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Medicine. But Kitty Chopaka says going back isn’t possible; the genie is out of the bottle.

“That bottle is broken. It’s gone!” More: ab.co/3ebD2pG

The Jimmy Dore Show: Zelensky in the US

Massive recession coming – McD's gets robots

The first fully automated McDonald’s has opened its doors in Texas, and more such restaurants are sure soon to follow. Some have suggested that the shift to automation is a result of greedy workers demanding higher wages. But the reality is that regardless of industry, as soon as the technology becomes available and cost-effective, companies will gladly replace human employees with soulless machines and AI robots, and that’s precisely what’s now happening at McDonald’s. Jim and Kurt discuss the inevitability of automation under capitalism and toxic efforts to blame workers for expecting to earn a living wage.

The financial wizards at the equity firm BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, are warning that a major recession is headed our way, and this time all the powers of the central banking apparatus will not be sufficient to hold it off.

Are we prepared for a major drop in the Dow Jones and the attendant impacts that will redound throughout the economy? Massive recession coming – warns evil firm Jimmy Dore (jimmydore.com) and America’s Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss our collective financial future and the inscrutability of the turgid jargon peppered throughout the financial press.

I am Deya Dova. I grew up in a remote town on the edge of the Nullarbor Desert in South Australia. I taught myself to sing, sitting on the Earth with a vast horizon and immense desert starscapes.

I create music as new myth, infusing sound with themes of hope and empowerment, singing in new stories that assist in smashing through old paradigms of perception.

Blending ancient and primal song, divine vocal frequencies with organic beats, totemic bass and sacred world instrumentation is the way I create. Together with my husband and co producer Hamilton Barnett (and our children), we tour internationally to play transformational festivals. Our music traverses World Bass, World Electronic Dance, Tribal and Organic Downtempo.

We have performed at festivals including Burning Man, Sonic Bloom, Symbiosis, Envision, Beloved, Wanderlust, Atmosphere, Luminate, Enchanted Forest, Bali Spirit Fest, and Earth Frequency to mention only a few.

For the last seven years I have been called to return to the origins of my music making, to record Earth songs on the energy lines around the planet. I call it the - Planetary Grid Music Collection - an artistic exploration of sound mapping with the voice, field recording in nature and connecting with the Earth’s energetic system.

The Planetary Grid songs are live location recordings sung in direct response to the natural landscape. Being in a state of deep listening with Mother Earth, with our living breathing planet, Gaia. We have travelled to more than 44 locations on the Earth’s energy lines to record over 60 songs. These songs are released as an exclusive series of 12 mini albums.

A wellspring of consciousness raising Meditation Music, Healing Music, and modern Yoga Music connecting with the healing resonance of Earth. Through the universal language of music, I wish to share the incredible energy, frequency, and vibration of these stunning ancient places.

The goal is too inspire re-connection with the Earth, the greater Cosmos, and the Divine Intelligent Field. We hope you love the music and the videos filmed on our global travels. Thank you for being here on the channel. youtu.be/_5mzlas5hcc

The Misunderstood Magical Mushroom - Amanita muscaria (Fly Agaric)
(StoneAgeMan) In almost every guidebook, Amanita muscaria is listed as a deadly mushroom. The more I read about it, this seems to be the wrong focus. This is a discussion with @AmanitaDreamer and summarizes a few of the main things she's been studying for the past few years.

X-mas: "Heroic Dose" of Magic Mushrooms

Soon I'll experience states of samadhi without entheogenic/psychedelic 'shrooms.

Santa is a psychedelic mushroom-eating shaman
(The Atlantic) Many historians think that the North American figure of "Santa Claus" can be traced back to a monk named Saint Nicholas of Myra, a bearded 4th-century Greek Christian with a penchant for charitable giving.

Yeah, that's it, the rainbow body of meditation.
This St. Nicholas guy was presumably the basis for the Dutch Sinterklaas, patron saint of children, who donned a big, red cape and rode around on a white horse to visit children on the name day of Saint Nicholas, the sixth of December.

According to folklore, Sinterklaas carried a red book in which he recorded a child’s behavior over the past year as having been good or naughty. Sinterklaas is said to have been slowly transformed into modern-day Santa by 1700s Dutch immigrants in the New World.

“But maybe there’s another story worth telling this season — one about a psychedelic mushroom-eating shaman from the Arctic.”

That’s Matthew Salton, whose animated short film, Santa is a Psychedelic Mushroom, presents a different origin story entirely.

It’s a compelling narrative, backed by Harvard professors, anthropologists, and esteemed mycologists (studiers of mushrooms) alike, and it bears an uncanny resemblance to the modern tradition of Santa Claus.
"Santa is a Psychedelic Mushroom" was directed by Matthew Salton (matthewsalton.com) and produced by NYT Op-Docs. It is part of The Atlantic Selects, an online showcase of short documentaries from independent creators, curated by The Atlantic. Subscribe on YouTube: AtlanticYT

There are Buddhists in Russia?

The lotus flag of Buddhist Yakuts in Yakutia
Historically, Buddhism was incorporated into Siberia in the early 17th century [1, 2]. Buddhism is considered to be one of Russia's traditional religions and is legally a part of Russian historical heritage [3].

Besides the historical Buddhist monastic traditions of Buryatia, Tuva, and Kalmykia (the only Buddhist-majority republic in Europe), Buddhism is now spreading all over Russia, with many ethnic Russian converts. More

Untold truth: Ancient Egyptian technologies

The Untold Truth behind Ancient Egyptian Technologies
(Ancient Secret Discoveries) Premiered Jan. 7, 2021. Researcher and UK editor of Nexus Magazine, Marcus Allen takes viewers on a journey through ancient Egypt and reveals many anomalies that are often kept quiet.

For instance, he mentions the remarkable (anti-radioactive property of) Brown's Gas, suppressed technology available to us now.

When conducting research on ancient Egyptian constructs, there are many things that demonstrate technology such as machines, the mechanical cutting of stone, saw marks, drill holes, bore holes with such precision that specialized tools had to have been required.

No one can explain how rocks look like they have scoop marks. So the biggest question that now remains is, "Where is the machinery?"

Reign In Blood: The SLAYER Story (doc)

Reign In Blood: The Slayer Story ┃ Documentary
(RAWMUSICTV) Premiered Dec. 9, 2022 On October 7th, 1986, one of the most iconic records of a generation would send shockwaves through the music industry.

Finally, Beavis, something worth listening to!
It was such a controversial album, radio stations wouldn’t play it and Columbia Records refused to release it due to a song called "Angel of Death." Even when the record was released by Geffen, they refused to even put their logo on it.

That album would be called Reign in Blood by Slayer. Arguably the most influential thrash metal band of all time.

They’ve been attacked by religious groups, accused of being Satanic and faced a lawsuit that involved murder. Yet despite this, they are now a household name with 12 studio albums under their belt, millions of records sold worldwide, and a legacy that will surely live on through the ages.

Tori Amos improves on the hit song by switching perspective

Slayer's album covers alone were enough to trigger backlash from labels, parents, and Christian groups around the world, some of their song titles and lyrics would even have them pinned as Nazi sympathizers. We’ve seen similar stories about bands having links to Satanism when Black Sabbath arrived in 1968 and KISS in 1973 when people thought it was an acronym for "Knights In Satan's Service."

Slayer, however, played this to their advantage, they wanted to shock people, they wanted to stand out from the crowd, that’s exactly what they did, and this is their story.

Winter Solstice 2022: 1st Day of Winter (12/21)

Almanac.com, Dec. 2022; Pat Macpherson, Amber Larson, Dhr. Seven (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Full moon and meteor shower make the Winter Solstice of 2018 very special (abc57.com)
.
Winter Solstice 2022: The First Day of Winter
When is the winter solstice, and what is it all about?
When is the winter solstice? In 2022, the date of the winter solstice is Wednesday, Dec. 21st. What is the winter solstice, and why does it happen?

It's either the shortest day of the year or the longest night, right? No, it's both. Learn all about the shortest day of the year — and tell The Old Farmers' Almanac what winter means.

When is the winter solstice? The first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere is marked by the winter solstice, which occurs on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, at 4:48 PM EST.

England's Stonehenge, like Africa's Adam's Calendar, marks astrological dates and seasons.

Winter in the Western Hemisphere (Marina Zezelina/Shutterstock/Alamanac.com)
.
For the northern half of Earth (the Northern Hemisphere), the winter solstice occurs every year on Dec. 21 or 22. (For the Southern Hemisphere, the winter solstice occurs on June 20 or 21).

The winter solstice is the day with the fewest hours of sunlight during the whole year, making it the “shortest day” of the year. Conversely, it's the longest night of the year.

Thankfully, after we reach the winter solstice, the days begin to once again grow longer and longer until we reach the summer solstice — the first day of summer and the longest day of the year.

Think of it this way: Although the winter solstice means the start of winter, it also means the return of more sunlight. It only gets brighter from here on it (until the cycle repeats)!
Winter Solstice 2021 horoscope | CBC Life
[It was therefore a key day for astrotheology, the day of the birth of an important religious figure who will return, a kind of Maitreya or Messiah. See Jordan Maxwell for more on this historical phenomenon that has given many religions their power and influence over the millennia. For example, Jesus is not the "reason for the season" and was not born on Christmas or Christ's Mass. The Bible reveals he was born much earlier in the year when the animals were out to pasture. But the Church needed to appropriate a popular winter holiday to brighten the year and make it their own to promote the imperial state religion. Researcher Eric Dubay has a better alternative explanation for the facts as to what causes the solstices and equinoxes on the plane of the earth described by most of the religions of the world. But it is so controversial that he is banned and dismissed out of hand.]

The real reason for the season
