Researcher Patty Greer (pattygreer.net) has visited more than 100 crop circles. She went on Coast to Coast recently to present the conclusions of her research. 

What causes the paranormal formations? It turns out that there is a connection between telepathic communication and the circles. "Crop circles are coming out of the Earth in counter-rotating vortices," like pairs of spinning tornadoes, she explains, citing the work of researchers Penny Kelly and Dr. W. C. Levengood.

• Proof that Crop Circles are real is that, rather than stalks being bent and broken as happens when pressed down using a board and rope (or tornado), stalks bend and grow sideways overnight and remain alive and well with elongated growth nodules.

These vortices have different frequencies such as a class she calls "ion electron avalanche energies." There are also "electromagnetic fields," usually brought about by underground water sources, such as rivers or aquifers. They can make arm hair stand on end.

Greer characterized the Earth as a living being [the ancient Indians called Bhumi, see the Gaia Hypothesis]. She further explained that over 96% of crop circles are situated over ley lines -- energetic lines of energy -- along with water sources.

 

While examining a crop formation in Dorset, England in 2014, Greer met the Quantum Energy Generator (QEG) Team. They were sitting in a fresh formation and explained that they had meditated the previous day in a famous power spot for confirmation that their free energy device would work.

The next day they got their confirmation when they discovered the Dorset crop formation, which mimics the schematic of their device. Greer explains that this indicates that some form of human consciousness influences the design of formations.
