Are there really uncontacted bands of humans left on the surface of the planet? Besides in the warm and green parts of Antarctica we are banned from seeing and Sentinel Island off the coast of India or deep in New Guinea and still wandering around in the thick Amazon or out on the Kalahari, aside from those, is there a single human who does not know there are other humans, carrying on destroying the planet? It would seem so. They're probably better off not knowing what we're doing. What about one of the oldest countries in the world, the Kush we now call Ethiopia, are there secret tribes there, riding around on tiny boards with even tinier wheels, doing the impossible?

SCIENCE MYTH 1: Once upon a time, before everything came into existence, this happened, then it came into existence in a spontaneous Big Bang.
What was that? - Just another Bang - Q: Well, how did that happen if there wasn't anything yet?
- A: Uh, umm, question does not compute, insufficient data, syntax error, program will now shut down for regularly scheduled maintenance.
- 4H MYTH: (Popular in the Dharmic religions). One day God (who spontaneously arose in the midst of a great void and nothingness) got bored so He made everything (maya) else to amuse Himself, and to keep it interesting and full of drama (lila) forgot it was just Him (because we're all Him or figments of His imagination in this illusion), so it's alright whatever happens, just a part of a big game with Hells and Heavens, Hierarchies and Holes in the story (so don't read too much into it).
CHRISTIAN MYTH: (Applicable to all of the Abrahamic faiths, i.e., Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Yazidism, Gnosticism, Bahai, and probably their progenitors Mithraism, Zoroastrianism, ancient Mesopotamian, Babylonian, and Sumerian religion). - BUDDHIST MYTH: Once upon a time, in a land near, near this way, two light beings (or beams) alighted on this preexisting celestial body we call Earth, a garden like place, after flying in space and going about in their refined way. They liked it and stayed, and in so doing, they became coarser and coarser, devolving from their previous state.
- The beings were engaging in gathering, eating, tasting, and sensual experiences like sex, experiencing the results (vipaka and phala) of their collective deeds (karma), which had a profound impact on their environment, being reborn over and over, until we find ourselves in our present state with people not realizing that the things they say and do had a previous meaning they've forgotten. And that, monks, is how things in the present are like things in the past, and it's always a good idea to keep good conduct, be pure, and evolve back to that Golden Age of Truth (Satya Yuga) when things will be better before eventually, invariably, decline again and devolve in this spiraling cyclical pattern we call samsara.
- Q: That's a "creation" myth?
- A: No, where in the sutra does it say anything about "creation"? This is just a story about how humanoid life began on this planet/plane, devolving from a higher plane by the workings of karma.
SCIENCE MYTH 2: Once upon a time everything declined and collapsed falling in on itself then there was a Big Bounce and it re-expanded until we find ourselves and our universe expanding again as evidenced by the Doppler Effect of the redshift of visible light and there's no discernible beginning or end to it, just like the Buddha taught.
This is how it happened, according to math. - In science, anything is possible: Physicists turn light into one-dimensional gas with incredibly strange properties (IFL Science) The Big Bang is utterly dumb as a theory of everything because it says there is no need for miracles except this one. Just grant that everything came out of nothing in a nano-instant then everything else we explain will be rational, lawful (in accordance with demonstrable principles), and predictable.

The Root-Races of Humankind (video)

This is my (Gary Lite) own presentation of the story. I encourage all to investigate for themselves rather than taking everything said and shown here literally
The book The Root Races of Mankind by Scott Ramsey (awarenessofnothing.com) explains that there are seven "root-races" or evolutionary cycles through which humanity evolves.
Each root-race is divided into seven minor cycles called sub-races, which are again subdivided into seven branches or family races. These sub-divisions are related to the modern concept of races and ethnicities.
It must be stressed that the sub-races refer to cultural qualities and not to the level of evolution of the people. They are different evolutionary stages humanity as a whole goes through successively. The same individuals that compose the current humanity have been reborn in all of the previous root-races.
The root races are stages in human evolution in the esoteric cosmology of theosophist Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, aka Madame Blavatsky, as described in her book The Secret Doctrine (1888). Theosophy was an early Buddhistic Eastern-Western syncretism, teaching what Blavatsky was told by her invisible spiritual teacher and realized by her own psychic intuition.
These races existed mainly on now-lost continents. According to Blavatsky's writings, there will be seven root races assembled for our Earth. Each root-race is divided into seven sub-races. Only five root races have appeared so far; the sixth is expected to emerge in the 28th century.
We are presently at the fifth stage, referred to as the "Aryans." Aryan is a Sanskrit word that means "noble." It is unfortunate that the term "Aryan" was adopted and perverted by Adolf Hitler and his intellectual predecessor's fantasies of an "Aryan Superman” and is still used today by right-wing white power extremists.
Hitler and his inner circle also perverted some genuine ancient symbols, like the swastika (an ancient Vedic and Buddhist symbol).
There have been on Earth many civilizations of which we know nothing. These races evolve from ether to material. So every living organic species of animal and vegetation changes with every new root-race. Every sub-race and nation has its cycles and stages of developmental evolution repeated on a smaller scale.
Our race then has, as a root-race, crossed the middle line of the root-races and is cycling onward on the spiritual side. The periods of the great root-races are divided from each other by great convulsions of nature and by great geological changes.
Every root-race is separated by a catastrophe, a cataclysm -- the basis and historical foundation of the fables woven later into the religious fabric of every people, whether civilized or primitive, under the names of “deluges,” “showers of fire,” and the “great flood.”
Our present continents have been submerged and had the time to reappear again and bear their new groups of humankind and civilization. At the first great geological upheaval, at the next cataclysm, in the series of periodic cataclysms, that occur from the beginning to the end of every round [samsaric revolutions or cycles], our known continents will go down, and ancient continents will arise again.
It must be remembered that the Theosophical concept is that "souls" develop through an evolutionary process from: (1) Mineral to (2) Plant to (3) Animal to (4) Human. There is no transmigration backward so that a human cannot go backwards to an animal or plant for example.
Francis Bacon (whom Theosophy considers to be the legendary Count of St. Germain) in his work The New Atlantis (1627) describes a potential future civilization which lives on a land called Bensalem.
The first root-race (Polarian)
The first root-race was "ethereal" [deva]. They were composed of etheric matter. They reproduced by dividing like amoeba. Earth was still cooling at that time.
The first mountain to arise out of the stormy primeval ocean was Mount Meru [as it is known in Buddhist cosmology, also called Mt. Sumeru].
The earth on which the first race lived was more ethereal than it is today but relatively hard and condensed in comparison with those non-self-conscious "human" protoplasts.
They had huge translucent or transparent bodies, ovoid though somewhat fluid in form, with no bones or organs, and no hair or skin. They slowly grew more solid but remained ethereal until the end.

What was the Buddha? Awake! (sutra)

On one occasion the Blessed One was traveling on the road between Ukkattha and Setabya [in Kosala, near ancient Magadha].

Seeing them, the thought occurred to Dona, "How
amazing! How astonishing! These are not footprints of a human being!"
Then the Blessed One left the road and came to sit at the root of a tree -- legs crossed, body erect, mindfulness
established in front of him.

Dona followed the Blessed One's
footprints and beheld him at the root of the tree
inspiring confidence, with senses calmed, mind serene, secure in the utmost confidence and tranquility, tamed, with senses guarded, restrained, a great creature (naga 7).
- "Naga" means "a great being," such as an elephant or a great, magical dragon. Buddhists adopted the term as an epithet for the Buddha and his arhat (fully enlightened) disciples.
Seeing [the Buddha], Dona approached and said, "Master, are you a celestial (deva)?"
- Because Dona phrases this question in the future tense, it has led to a great deal of discussion as to what the entire dialogue means: Is he asking what the Buddha will be in a future life, or is he asking what he is now? The context of the discussion seems to demand the second alternative. Dona wants to know what kind of being has such amazing footprints. The Buddha's image of the lotus describes his present state, but the grammar of Dona's questions would seem to demand the first. A.K. Warder, in Introduction to Pali (p. 55), notes that the future tense is often used to express wonder, surprise, or perplexity about something in the present: "What might this be?" "What on earth is this?" This seems to be the sense of Dona's questions. Dona's earlier statement -- "These are not the footprints of a human being" -- is also phrased in the future tense. The mood of wonder extends throughout this conversation. It is also possible that the Buddha's answers, which are also phrased in the future tense, are a form of word-play. The Buddha may be using the future tense in both its meanings to refer both to his present and to his future state.

"Are you a messenger-angel (gandhabba)?"
"No..."
"Are you a nature guardian (yakkha)?"
- What is a yakkha? It is a class generally described as non-human beings (amanussā). They are mentioned with devas (shining ones, "angels"), rakkhasas (ogres, "demons"), dānavas (a name for the asuras, "titans," descendents of Danu), gandhabbas (messenger-angels, the lowest rank of celestials), kinnaras (avians, garudas, suparnas), and maho-ragas (royal bloodline nāgas, reptilians, or great creatures), for example in J.v.420. In other lists (e.g., PvA. 45, 55) they range immediately above the petas ("hungry ghosts"); in fact, some of the happier petas are called yakkhas. Elsewhere (e.g., A.ii.38) they rank, in progressive order, between human (manussā) and messenger-angel (gandhabbā). They are of many different kinds: spirits, ogres, dryads, ghosts, spooks. In early records, yakkha, like nāgā, is an appellative and is anything but depreciative; it is a compliment. Therefore, not only is Sakka, King of the Gods (Devas in two space worlds immediately above the human plane), so referred to (M.i.252; J.iv.4; DA.i.264), but even the Buddha is spoken of as a yakkha in poetic diction (M.i.386). Many gods (devas), such as Kakudha, are so addressed (S.i.54).

- The Buddha not identifying himself as a human being relates to a point made throughout the Pali canon: An awakened/enlightened person cannot be defined in any way at all. On this point, see MN 72, SN 22.85, SN 22.86, and the article, "A Verb for Nirvana." Because a mind beset by clinging is "located" by its clinging, an fully awakened person takes no place in any world. This is why such a person is unsmeared by the world or sphere (loka) like the lotus unsmeared by muddy water.

There are beings on Earth who are far older. But with no legitimate birth or baptismal certificate, they are not likely to make themselves known for quite some time.
As alien and trans-dimensional "visitors" check in on their project(s) and continue to genetically manipulate and breed with the ape-like forms already developing here, namely we ordinary earthlings -- age is bound to increase. Bear in mind that there are many worlds that constitute the "human plane" (manussa loka) beside our own small population on this pale blue dot orbiting in space, which is distinguished primarily by the fortunate arising of a teacher of humans and devas. He is, of course, the supremely enlightened Buddha. There have been other sages, but this one is different and extraordinarily rare. Yes, earthling lifespans will again increase dramatically.

The mythological figure for how long a person can live unassisted under ordinary conditions is 80,000 years. But we will be lucky to 900 in the remainder of this aeon (kalpa), which should make our Jewish/Christian friends happy. In fact, as things descend, average lifespan will one day reach 10. But so much for mythology and cosmology, who is this 123 year old human?

Not since Ven. Ananda and other close associates of the historical Buddha walked the Earth have people been living to 120. So what is the "secret" to longevity? Is it praying and petitioning God/gods? Blueberry blast shakes? Steamed kale with sauteed garlic and sesame oil? Doing what you want when the he*k you want? Supplementing with Alchemical "philosopher's stone" (Ambrosia) or "distilled dew" made of evaporated rainwater that has never been allowed to touch the ground? Telomere-lengthening with Indian herbs (like clinically-proven, peer-reviewed Protandim)? Chewing Bolivian and Peruvian leaves from the Andes mountains? Mud walls and dirt floors? Live among Japanese Buddhists, who are documented by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations (UN) to enjoy "the longest overall life expectancy at birth of any country in the world: 83.5 years for persons born in the period 2010-2015"?[Ref 13][Ref 14] Live among the Hunza Muslims in their great Himalayan foothill valley? All these may help and certainly can increase the quality of life, but the Buddha taught something more directly and emphatically: karma. It is by one's course of conduct that one enjoys longevity here and hereafter, this world and worlds to come.

Samsara is a long, long round (of births and deaths sufferings innumerable); nirvana is release. But before that final liberation, the ripening of deeds lead to longevity. Abstaining from taking life, from harming, beating, cudgeling, harassing, poisoning, depriving others of sustenance (food, medicine, shelter, care), and so on ripens as long life in terrestrial and celestial worlds. There are, of course, planes which one would not appreciate longevity, worlds-of-woe one may fall into so long as one has not become a stream-enterer and thereby cut off that possibility.

The native Aymara lives in a straw-roofed dirt-floor hut in an isolated hamlet near Lake Titicaca at 13,100 feet (4,000 meters), is illiterate, speaks no [colonial] Spanish [of the European conquerors or Conquistadors], and has no teeth.
He walks without a cane and doesn't wear glasses. And though he speaks Aymara with a firm voice, one must talk into his ear to be heard.
"I see a bit dimly. I had good vision before. But I saw you coming," he tells Associated Press journalists who visit after a local TV report touts him as the world's oldest person."
Hobbling down a dirt path, Flores greets them with a raised arm, smiles and sits down on a rock. His gums bulge with [chewed whole untreated] coca leaf, a mild stimulant that staves off hunger. Like most Bolivian highlands peasants, he has been chewing it all his life.
Guinness World Records says the oldest living person verified by original proof of birth is Misao Okawa, a 115-year-old Japanese woman. [Women excel, and men rarely make it beyond 116.] The oldest verified age was 122 years and 164 days: Jeanne Calment of France, who died in 1997. More

(SCPR, Aug. 17, 2013) According to KPCC FM's Off-Ramp with John Rabe, the elder Laura is only 107 according to his Baptism certificate. This is the shocking claim of UCLA's Dr. Stephen Coles, director of the Gerontology Research Group, which investigates these kinds of claims for the Guinness Book of World Records. He
says he was skeptical from the start, especially because there was no
documentary proof dating to the year Laura was supposedly born. "I was
immediately suspicious because no man to our knowledge has ever lived
past the age of 116, because 90% of people we call super-centenarians

The "human plane" (manussa loka) is far more diverse and strange than any of us understand. It is not limited in time to this iteration of the species, or to earthlings, or to the frail, small, short-lived creatures we experience ourselves as now. But even if humans were only as we knew them, we would not know them. The Earth has rarely been so well connected, so well explored, yet there are tribes, customs, and cultures we know nothing of. The human world affords beings the greatest opportunity to realize the Three Marks of Existence: radical impermanence, the disappointment of all conditioned existence, and the impersonal nature of all the constituents of being (form, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness).

A half million Earths in our Galaxy alone

Imagine the galaxy, its countless stars and innumerable planets. On an insignificant speck atop an insignificant speck in some forgotten corner rest in the knowledge that "You are here," according to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Yesterday's announced discovery of Earth-like planet Kepler-22b [confirmed] brought with it renewed speculation over the [high probability] of life on other worlds [even with all the black holes].
While the news was exciting, there's growing evidence that it's only a drop in the bucket when it comes to finding habitable worlds in our cosmic neighborhood.
As we begin to traverse distant space (or it is finally disclosed that humans have been there for countless millenia) it is vital that we begin to understand the importance of each individual always knowing where her/his towel is.
Space.com has provided a HANDY GUIDE to some of the 700 planets discovered by the Kepler telescope outside of our solar system. The findings include "Super-Earth" planets such as Kepler-22b and even possible "Water Worlds," like the planet GJ 1214b, which may be covered in vast oceans of water.

The discovery of Kepler-22b reminded me of a great Isaac Asimov book I read in the late 80's called Extraterrestrial Civilizations. Even though Asimov wrote the book before the Hubble telescope was put into use, his theories are still considered cutting-edge to this day. More
