REVIEW: We can't recommend this one. It's not as funny as previous installments, and it's almost certainly NOT the last Jackass film. They always say it will be their last, which helps sales. The problem here is not that there isn't nostalgia. It's that it's weak. It's not their best work. There is little set up to each scenario, and then it's over and on to the next thing. A previous sequel saw Knoxville dress like an old man with his scrotum hanging out unawares; he goes out and about, laughs ensue. Here, there is one call back to that, and that seems authentic and funny. If you like gay homoeroticism among professed heterosexual bros, you'll love this -- with all its fecal, anal, ball-busting torture. Did we mention feces? There's no shortage of that. And there's lots of full-frontal male nudity for the gents. Ladies, stay home. This is not representative of what most men are up to. This is for drug abusers, like Knoxville and Steve-O to make money milking cringe for what it might be worth. Rating: C or C-.

Cartoon characters may age right in front of our eyes and eventually die, like The Simpson, Family Guy, and South Park, but we never will. That kind of mortality is only in animation and just for laughs. Can you imagine if radical impermanence applied to our lives? Why, our youth, beauty, and joys might evaporate right in front of our eyes, like good ol' Beavis and Butthead. Of course, the ancient sages of India warned of just such a thing in this story of the past by the Buddha:
Odd that the supremely enlightened Buddha mentions the teachings of another teacher? No, Araka is the Bodhisatta (in a past life, i.e., the Buddha before enlightenment). He is recalling what a good teacher taught before "supreme" (samma-sam) awakening.
"Once long ago, meditators, there was a teacher named Araka, a leader of a school who was free of lust for sensual pleasures. He had hundreds of students and he taught them dhamma [his Doctrine] in this way:
"'Next to nothing, students (Brahmins), is this human life — limited, a trifling, a mass of disappointment and distress. One should touch this [truth] like a sage, do what is skillful, and lead a purified life. For one who is reborn there is no freedom from death.
"'Just as a dewdrop on a blade of grass soon vanishes with the rising of the sun, in the same way, students, human life is like that dewdrop — limited, a trifling, a mass of disappointment and despair. One should touch this [truth] like a sage, do what is skillful, and lead a pure life. For one who is reborn there is no freedom from death.
"'Just as when the weather-devas send rain in large droplets that hit and form a water bubble that soon vanishes, in the same way, students, human life is like that water bubble — limited, a trifling, a mass of disappointment and despair. One should touch this [truth] like a sage, do what is skillful, and lead a pure life. For one who is born there is no freedom from death.
"'Just as a line drawn on water with a stick soon vanishes, in the same way, students, human life is like that line — limited, a trifling, a mass of disappointment and despair. One should touch this [truth] like a sage, do what is skillful, and lead a pure life. For one who is reborn there is no freedom from death.
Subject to aging, I should seek the ageless.
"'Just as a river flows down from the mountains, goes far in a swift current, and carries everything with it, so that there is not a second, not a moment, not an instant when it stands still, but instead it flows, and moves and rushes. In the same way, students, human life is like that river — limited, a trifling, a mass of disappointment and despair. One should touch this [truth] like a sage, do what is skillful, and lead a pure life. For one who is reborn there is no freedom from death.
"'Just as a strong person might form spit on the tip of the tongue then spit it out with little effort, in the same way, students, human life is like that spit — limited, a trifling, a mass of disappointment and despair. One should touch this [truth] like a sage, do what is skillful, and lead a pure life. For one who is reborn there is no freedom from death.
Huh huh huh, you look old. Here's a cane.
"'Just as a shred of flesh tossed onto an iron pan that has been heated all day soon vanishes, in the same way, students, human life is like that shred of flesh — limited, a trifling, a mass of disappointment and despair. One should touch this [truth] like a sage, do what is skillful, and lead a pure life. For one who is reborn there is no freedom from death.
"'Just as a doomed cow being led to a slaughterhouse stumbles with every step as it moves closer to slaughter and closer to death, in the same way, students, human life is like that doomed cow — limited, a trifling, a mass of disappointment and despair. One should touch this [truth] like a sage, do what is skillful, and lead a pure life. For one who is reborn there is no freedom from death.'
Old Cornholio (new Beavis & Butt-Head)
"Now at that time, meditators, the average human life span was 60,000 years, with females marriageable at 500. And at that time there were [only] six afflictions: [touch of] cold, heat, hunger, thirst, [and the need for] defecation and urination. Yet even though humans were so long-lived, long-lasting, with so few afflictions, the Sage Araka taught dhamma to his disciples in this way:
"'Next to nothing, students, is human life — limited, a trifling, a mass of disappointment and despair. One should touch this [truth] like a sage, do what is skillful, and lead a pure life. For one who is reborn there is no freedom from death.'
"At present, meditators, one speaking rightly might say, 'Next to nothing is human life — limited, a trifling, a mass of disappointment and despair. One should touch this [truth] like a sage, do what is skillful, and lead a pure life. For one who is reborn there is no freedom from death.'
How many moons would we have seen? 36,500?
At present, meditators, one who lives a long time is 100 years old or a little more. Living 100 years, one lives for 300 seasons: 100 seasons of cold, 100 seasons of heat, 100 seasons of rain.
Living for 300 seasons, one lives for 1,200 months: 400 months of cold, 400 months of heat, 400 months of rain.
Living for 1,200 months, one lives for 2,400 fortnights: 800 fortnights of cold, 800 fortnights of heat, 800 fortnights of rain.
Living for 2,400 fortnights, one lives for 36,000 days: 12,000 days of cold, 12,000 days of heat, 12,000 days of rain.
Living for 36,000 days, one eats 72,000 meals: 24,000 meals in the cold, 24,000 meals in the heat, 24,000 meals in the rain — counting the taking of mother's milk and obstacles to eating.
Obstacles to eating? There are these: when one does not eat due to anger, when one does not eat due to distress, when one does not eat due to illness, when one does not eat due to an observance [Uposatha] day, when one does not eat due to poverty.
Turn, turn, turn, how the season turn.
"Meditators, reckoning the life of a human being who lives for 100 years, there is the lifespan, the seasons, the years, the months, the fortnights, the nights, the days, the meals, the obstacles to eating.
"Whatever a teacher would do in seeking the welfare of disciples, out of sympathy for them, have I done for you.
"Over there, there are the roots of trees; over there, empty dwellings. Practice meditative absorptions (the jhanas), meditators. Be not heedless, such that you might fall into regret later. This is our message."

What Daria says about the 1990s (and today)
(The Take) Mike Judge's "Daria Morgendorffer" made it cool to be a wry and cynical loner. This teen girl who didn’t care about popularity or trends was the picture-perfect example of ‘90s alienation. She was a surprising character for a channel that often sold brash, extroverted, or overtly sexualized versions of womanhood during that same period.
What if Daria were around today, might she be just like Drugstore June?

Years later, Daria still resonates with anyone who’s ever questioned whether the problem is you or the system you’re living in – and it can help us understand cultural changes that were happening back in the 1990s.
Taylor "Vampire"/"Nazi Barbie" Swift trumps Olivia, Dua, and Miley by admitting she's a narcissistic "Anti-Hero" and an all-around jerk in a song someone almost certainly wrote for her to mock her but by singing it,* she got a pop award and took it from more deserving artists.

Comedy Central lands re-imagined Beavis and Butt-Head: The iconic duo is back!
Jordana Ossad
Uh huh huh huh huh, smack: Beavis and Butt-Head is back! Comedy Central has announced an expansive deal with Emmy Award-winning creator of the show Mike Judge to re-imagine MTV’s seminal, Gen X-defining Beavis and Butt-Head, as well as additional spin-offs and specials.
If B&B were in Slayer
It's time to rock out -- and put our shirts over our heads. Beavis and Butt-Head, which premiered on MTV back in 1993, quickly became a force in pop culture and started a television revolution with its pure, unadulterated, satirical commentary on youth and adolescence.
The unprecedented concept, featuring two awkward teenage couch potatoes, immediately became part of the vernacular in a way no other adult animated series had before.
Will MTV be winning any awards for this?
Known for tackling social issues including bad music videos, teen obesity, workers’ rights, and media trends, the show connected with an entire generation, laying claim as one of the most innovative series in the modern-day zeitgeist.
In this new iteration Beavis and Butt-Head are entering a whole new Gen Z world. Comedy Central has ordered two seasons of the new series with meta-themes relatable to both new and old fans, Gen X parents and their Gen Z kids. B&B are parents with kids!
Judge is set to write, produce, and provide voice-over for both iconic characters, just as he originally did. Check MTV News for more Beavis and Butt-Head updates.More

The Goddess Black Barbie (KattisDolls.net)
Quite contradictory views have been expressed in Western literature on Buddhism's attitude toward the concept of "God" [the personal great Maha Brahma and the impersonal GOD or godhead Brahman] and gods [devas].
A study of the discourses (sutras) of the Buddha preserved in the Pali canon shows that the idea of a personal deity, a "creator god" conceived to be eternal and omnipotent, is incompatible with the ultimate reality described in the Buddha's teachings.
On the other hand, conceptions of an impersonal godhead [Brahman] of any description, such as world-soul and so on, are [not] excluded by the Buddha's teachings on anatta (impersonality, non-self, not-self, unsubstantiality, insubstantiality).
In Buddhist literature, the belief in a [first cause, prime mover] creator god (issara-nimmana-vada) is frequently mentioned and rejected, along with other causes wrongly adduced to explain the origin of the world, for example, a world-soul, time, nature, and so on.
Symbolic conceptions of Kali (2012rising.com)
God-belief [a belief in this kind of "God"], however, is placed in the same category as those morally destructive wrong views which deny the karmic results of action, which assume a fortuitous origin of humans and nature, or teach absolute determinism.
These views are said to be altogether pernicious ["wrong views," miccha-ditthi], having definite bad results due to their effect on ethical conduct [here and now].
Theism, however, is regarded as a kind of karma-teaching insofar as it upholds the moral efficacy of actions. So a theist who leads a moral life may, like anyone else doing so, expect a favorable results [including favorable] rebirths [in the future when that karma, those "actions," ripen].
One may possibly even be reborn in heavenly worlds that resemble one's own conception of such worlds, but they will not be of eternal duration even though one may expect them to be.
If, however, fanaticism induces one to persecute those who do not share one's beliefs, this will have grave consequences for one's future destiny. For fanatical attitudes, intolerance, and violence against others create unwholesome karma leading to moral degeneration and to [many] unhappy rebirths.
Although belief in God does not exclude a favorable rebirth, it is a variety of [the wrong view of] eternalism, a false affirmation of permanence rooted in the craving for existence, and as such an obstacle to final deliverance. More

OMG, not that funny. "The Seth MacFarlane Show" went off the rails with lots of people reading long lists of names no one knows. And the "Jaws" theme only got used once, when it really should have gone to Life of Pi's Ang Lee when he beat Steven Spielberg, who created "Jaws."
The Anti-Defamation League has filed a complaint against plush toy "Ted" for an antisemitic segment (video) that had the nerve to point out that Jews are overrepresented in Hollywood and in the media (TV, radio, print, online, porn).
But the best and worst moments may have been (Best Actress) Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence's elegant trip and recovery and klutzycrutchy Kristen Stewart's grueling award-presenting efforts (after her amazing sweep of the awards the day before for her sullen teenager caliber performance in the "Twilight" series) next to Harry Potter. Interestingly, tragically, "Searching for Sugar Man" beat out four socially-conscious documentaries with its light and entertaining subject matter. Amazingly, with only four or five awards of widespread interest, the show was allowed to drag on for 3.5 hours.
MacFarlane (creator of "Family Guy" and "American Dad" and "The Cleveland Show") was brought in to attract a younger male audience. But the Academy claims to have chosen him for his dancing and singing. Either way, it was not much of a departure from hosts like Billy Crystal. The producers will have to think of something else -- maybe combining it with the Super Bowl, Olympic figure skating, and MTV clips? A show is not a "show" if it just indulges actors with insider comments far exceeding their 15 minutes of fame. Everyone agrees, the whole thing could go a lot faster.
Kristen Stewart spotted picking up Golden Razzies the day before Oscars (guardian.co.uk)

Silverman, a real flesh and blood "Daria," may get her own NBC network show (Reuters/Fred
Prouser).
My mother used to beg me to turn the channel halfway through a Daria marathon. “Her voice is irritating,” she would say. “It’s just so monotonous.” And it was. I completely saw her point, but my feelings on the matter were beyond the voice at that point. Daria Morgendorfer was my id.
I was a much more idealistic teenager than Daria. In fact, I was (gasp) an optimist. And I still am.
But when you’re a teenager, especially the particular brand that spent her formative years curled up in front of a television set, you seek out characters that speak to a more hidden part of you -- the part that wishes she had the gumption to say half the things that regularly came out of Daria’s mouth. Watching Daria was like getting a... More
NEW YORK - There's a long tradition of
edgy comedians sanding down their edges as they try to make themselves
generically likable enough to score network sitcoms. Sarah Silverman is NOT part of that tradition. With NBC soon to decide whether to give her a show in the fall, the "Sarah Silverman Program" star made a joke [about "aborting" a burrito in her belly, tweeted some pictures, and ran afoul of the dreaded Drudge Report. Daria might have said the same thing if MTV writers had been that sharp.] More
