Gummy 'flower' on 4/20? Cannabis

(NBC Bay Area) What used to be an unofficial cannabis celebration on April 20th (four-twenty in American cannabis culture) in San Francisco has grown into a huge, city-sanctioned free event, and just about anyone one walks up to is happy to expound on what he or she loves about it.
Sadhus smoke herb in spiritual India?

Entheogenic use of cannabis to 'bring out the divine': Marijuana [or Chinese Ma Huang, pronounced as if it were the Spanish name Marijuana/MaryJane, from Mexico] has served as an entheogen—a chemical substance used in religious or spiritual contexts [1]  to bring to the surface inner divinity—in the Indian subcontinent since the Vedic period, dating back to approximately 1500 BCE, but perhaps as far back as 2500 BCE in ancient China. It was introduced to the New World by the Spaniards in 1530-1545... More

Devil's Pope in Rome? AI robot head

A mysterious ancient robot and the pope who made a deal with the Devil
(Dark5 Ancient Mysteries) A deal with the Christian Devil? A forbidden Islamic book stolen under the cover of night? A demoness named Meridiana offering untold power and wealth? A mechanical [artificially intelligent] bronze head said to be able to foretell the future?

These are not mere fragments of medieval myth — they form the strange legacy of Pope Sylvester the 2nd.

Over the centuries, the position of Catholic pope (as distinct from other Christian popes like the Eastern Orthodox Patriarch) has been occupied by an extraordinary range of personalities: saints and schemers, humanitarians and conquerors, visionaries and, at times, even crime lords.

The decisions made by these men — both virtuous and corrupt — have shaped the course of history far beyond their billions of Roman Catholic followers (with the Holy Roman Empire living on through the pope-king and 500 princes rebranded as cardinals and bishops, cheating celibate priests more interested in riches and homosexual and heterosexual hedonism and molestation than holiness).

But in the year 999, a figure unlike any before him ascended to the papacy: Gerbert of Aurillac, better known as Pope Sylvester the 2nd.

His intellect was unmatched — pushing the boundaries of mathematics, astronomy, and mechanics in an age ruled by superstition.

Under Pope Sylvester’s guidance, Europe saw glimpses of the future — an early foreshadowing of the Renaissance (lit. "rebirth") to come.

But for his contemporaries, there was something unsettling about Pope Sylvester’s genius. In a world where the line between the divine and the diabolical was thin, rumors spread that his wisdom came not from God but from a more evil source.

For centuries, scholars, historians, and church officials have asked the same stunning question: Could the leader of the Catholic Church (the oldest corporation in the world) — the most powerful man in the Christian world — have been in league with Satan (the "Adversary")?

Miracles in Buddhism (sutra)

Dhr. Seven, Aloka (eds.), Ven. Thanissaro (orig. trans.), Kevatta (Kevaddha) Sutra (DN 11)

Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One was staying at Nalanda in Pavarika's mango grove. Then Kevatta the householder approached the Blessed One, bowed, sat respectfully to one side, and said:

"Venerable sir, this Nalanda is powerful, both prosperous and populous, filled with people who have confidence in the Blessed One. It would be good if the Blessed One were to direct a monastic to display a miracle of psychic power from his superior human state so that Nalanda would to an even greater extent have confidence in the Blessed One."

When this was said the Blessed One said to Kevatta the householder, "Kevatta, I do not teach the monastics in this way: 'Come, monastics, display a miracle of psychic power to the lay people clad in white.'"

A second time...and a third time, Kevatta the householder said this to the Blessed One: "I will not argue with the Blessed One, but I tell you: venerable sir, this Nalanda is powerful, both prosperous and populous, filled with people who have confidence in the Blessed One. It would be good if the Blessed One were to direct a monastic to display a miracle of psychic power from his superior human state so that Nalanda would to an even greater extent have confidence in the Blessed One."

A third time the Blessed One rebuffed Kevatta the householder. "Kevatta, there are these three miracles that I have declared, having directly known and realized them for myself. What three?
  1. The miracle of psychic power
  2. the miracle of telepathy
  3. the miracle of instruction.
The Miracle of Psychic Power

"And what is the miracle of psychic power? There is one case where a monastic wields manifold psychic powers.
  • Having been one that person becomes many.
  • Having been many that person becomes one.
  • One reappears.
  • One vanishes.
  • One goes unimpeded through walls, buildings, and mountains as if through space.
  • One dives in and out of the earth as if it were water.
  • One walks on water without sinking as if it were dry land.
  • Sitting cross-legged one flies through the air like a winged bird.
  • With one's hand one touches and strokes even the sun and moon, so mighty and powerful.
  • One exercises influence with this body even as far as the Brahma worlds.
"Then someone who has confidence and conviction in this person sees this person wielding manifold psychic powers... exercising influence with this body even as far as the Brahma worlds. One reports this to someone who has no confidence and no conviction, telling that person, 'Is it not awesome? Is it not astounding how great the power, how great the skill of this wandering ascetic? Just now I saw this person wielding manifold psychic powers... exercising influence with this body even as far as the Brahma worlds.'

"Then the person without confidence, without conviction would say to the person with confidence and with conviction: 'There is a charm called the 'Gandhari charm' by which the monastic wielded manifold psychic powers... exercising influence with this body even as far as the Brahma worlds.' What do you think, Kevatta -- isn't that what the person without faith, without conviction would say to the person with confidence and with conviction?"

"Yes, venerable sir, that's just what that person would say."

"Seeing this drawback to the miracle of psychic power, Kevatta, I feel horrified, humiliated, and disgusted with the miracle of psychic power.

The Miracle of Telepathy
"And what is the miracle of telepathy? There is another case where a monastic reads the minds, the mental events, the thoughts, the ponderings of other beings, other individuals, [saying,] 'Such is your thinking, here is where your thinking is, thus is your mind.'

"Then someone who has confidence and conviction in that mind reader seeing this reading of minds... of other beings... One reports this to someone who has no confidence and no conviction, saying, 'Is it not awesome? Is it  not astounding, how great the power, how great the skill of this wandering ascetic? Just now I saw him reading the minds... of other beings...'

"Then the person without confidence, without conviction would say to the person with confidence and with conviction: 'There is a charm called the 'Manika charm' by which the monastic read the minds...of other beings...' What do you think, Kevatta -- isn't that what the person without confidence, without conviction would say to the person with confidence and with conviction?"

"Yes, venerable sir, that's just what that person would say."

"Seeing this drawback to the miracle of telepathy, Kevatta, I feel horrified, humiliated, and disgusted with the miracle of telepathy.

The Miracle of Instruction
"And what is the miracle of instruction? There is another case where a monastic gives instruction in this way: 'Direct your thought in this way, refrain from directing it in that. Attend to things in this way, refrain from attending to them in that. Let go of this, and enter and remain in that.' This, Kevatta, is called the miracle of instruction.

"Furthermore, there is the case where a tathagata ("welcome one") appears in the world, worthy and rightly self-awakened. He teaches the Dharma beautiful in its beginning, beautiful in its middle, beautiful in its end. He proclaims the spiritual life both in its particulars and its essence, entirely perfect, surpassingly pure.

"A householder or householder's offspring, hearing the Dharma, gains conviction in the Tathagata and reflects: 'Household life is confining, a dusty path. The life gone forth is like the open air. It is not easy living at home to practice the spiritual life totally perfect, totally pure, like a polished shell. What if I were to shave off my hair and beard, put on the saffron robes, and go forth from the household life into the left home life?'

"So after some time one abandons this mass of wealth, large or small, leaves one's circle of relatives, large or small, shaves off hair and beard, puts on saffron robes, and goes forth from the household life into the left home life.

"When one has thus gone forth, one lives restrained by the rules of the Monastic Code, seeing danger in even the slightest fault. Consummate in virtue, one guards the doors of the senses, is possessed of mindfulness and alertness, and is content. More

Third Eye Pineal Gland (video)

Universe Inside You, Jan. 14, 2018; Ashley Wells, Sheldon S. (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
The Buddha quote at the end comes from the Kalama Sutra on investigating over believing.

Third Eye Pineal Gland: Biggest Cover Up in Human History
The pineal gland (also called the “third eye,” dibba-cakkhu that allows direct knowing-and-seeing, ajna chakra, pineal body, conarium, and epiphysis cerebri) is a small endocrine gland in the vertebrate brain.

It produces the serotonin-derivative melatonin, a hormone that affects the modulation of wake/sleep patterns and seasonal functions. Its shape resembles a tiny pine cone (hence its name), and it is located near the center of the brain, between the two hemispheres, tucked in a groove where the two rounded thalamic bodies join.

The end of "fry bread"
Greasy rancid white flour, burned, with toxic acrylamide coating (iamnm.com)
.
Native Americans never wanted to eat white flour fried in rancid oil called frybread. They were forcibly placed in prison camps called "reservations" and given starvation rations which included glutinous wheat flour and adulterated oil. They were told to make something edible with these paltry ingredients.

They put the two together to create toxic, carcinogenic, addictive acrylamides (from frying and browning), comfort food. They soon became malnourished, obese, diabetic, and developed cancers of various kinds. Who could imagine it was due to diet?

Today, the presence of the abomination of fry bread was ended in Native American ceremonies.

Miss Navajo Nation parting ways with fry bread

We thought it was indigenous, but it's trash.
FLAGSTAFF, Arizona - The Miss Navajo Nation pageant is parting ways with fry bread [doughnut slab with no hole], the fluffy, golden brown [garbage] delicacy that's become a symbol of Native American culture but is rooted in oppression.

Women vying for the crown this week in Window Rock will prepare traditional [indigenous] Navajo foods instead, like blue corn mush or a cake made at puberty ceremonies.

Outgoing Miss Navajo Ronda Joe said the tribe's new ambassador must know the history of those foods and speak about them in Navajo.

"We need to educate our people to utilize plants as food that are tied to our land, culture and beliefs," she wrote in an email. More

Secrets of the Pineal Gland (video)

Collective Awakening; Graham Hancock; Dhr. Seven, CC Liu (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Collective AwakeningAncient traditions knew of the pineal gland (shaped like a pine cone behind the forehead acting as a third eye). It's shrouded in mystery and the subject of lore in many cultures. These cultures knew that the pineal plays a role in our spiritual development and communication with spirit beings. But in an increasingly toxic world, many of us are losing the innate gifts of an open and active pineal.

Lana Del Rey and witches put spell on Trump

Ashley Wells, Seth Auberon, Dhr. Seven, CC Liu, Wisdom Quarterly; FOX; A Call for Uprising

Failed lovesick supermodel singer Lana Del Rey loves America has a new song, "Love."

(Lana Del Rey) "Dangerous Girl." Are Warlock Podesta and cool Katy involved? Lyrics below.

Hi, my name is Lizzy Lana.
There are good witches and bad witches. Hillary and her West Coast coven are examples of "bad" witches, whereas neo-blues chanteuse Lana Del Rey have set their sights on "binding" (spiritually restraining) autocrat Trump from doing serious harm.

A series of midnight spells carried out during successive crescent moons, when such spells are apparently more efficacious, though one would think the full moon is the time for that, are underway.

Why? To save the world from the sexist patriarch who is filling the DC swamp with billionaires, who care more about profits and promoting the once-dying Republican party than the people they "serve."

My disciples will take care of this.
No word on what alt-right Pres. Steve Bannon -- former Breitbart editor -- thinks of the "curse" or "hex," but he likely has some retaliation planned.

(Bannon and Kellyanne Conway were recruited by a billionaire and his daughter approached by Ivanka Trump to get Daddy Trump elected when he was flagging and in desperate need of help, according to KPFK.org, and were then installed to give control of the White House to the real movers and shakers who paid for the best "democracy" money can buy).

Fearful conservative Christians could try a counter-spell to free Trump to "do what thou wilt" with the country and our future. There's no telling in this war of principalities.

Pres. Bannon -- the Dick Cheney to idiotic Trump's G.W. Bush -- is anti-female (Cosmo).

Let me be your "Dangerous Girl"
    Lyrics by Lana Del Rey

    "I'm America's sweetheart."
He's my drugstore cowboy, Italian alloy, classical American. And I'm America's sweetheart, cute, delicious, sweet tart, sipping on my Diet Coke, singin' in the trailer park.

He likes my jeans tight (yeah). He likes me mean, right? (Right). He likes my long hair, corset, heels high. I'm born to kill, stripped for success. I'm his sweet mess. Do you love me? Yes, yes! Hell, yes!

Baby, I'm a four alarm fire, and I'm what you desire, like a siren in the night (di nero-nero). Baby, you's a man on a wire, risking all that you've got for the love of your life. (You're my hero, hero). Let me be your dangerous girl...

"Let me be your dangerous girl."
He's the get-rich-quick type, Mafioso hit type. Girl, I'm gonna marry him! I'm the bad girl next door. Baby's always wantin' more, buyin' diamond jewelry, take me to the Jersey Shore.

He likes my mink white (white). We go out all night (night). We're living off the grid shining in the crime life. We were born to kill, best of the best, the new Wild West. Honey, put on that party dress. Hell, yes!

Me and my baby planning world domination, together taking over our fair nation. 'Cause we're born to kill, keepin' it fresh, gold chain, white mesh. Fame is the name of the game, yes yes! (Yes, yes, yes, yes)....Let me be your dangerous girl.

    MIRACLES the Buddha performed

G.P. Malalasekera, Dictionary of Pali Proper Names (Pali Text Society) via Palikanon.com; edited and illustrated by Dhr. Seven, Crystal Quintero, and Ashley Wells, Wisdom Quarterly
The Buddha created a walkway in space then walked to the World of the Thirty-Three.

The Buddha was against performing miracles, perceiving some inherent danger in them. He lauded something more miraculous -- teaching the path to enlightenment. He regularly used some of those powers to aid in teaching without making a grand display. Yet there was a time, seven years after his enlightenment, when he did make a grand display that lasted more than two weeks.

When the Buddha set down a monastic (vinaya) rule forbidding the exercise of supernatural powers by Buddhist monastics -- following a miracle performed by the monk Pindola Bhฤradvฤja -- ascetics from other schools went around saying that from then on they would not perform miracles except with the Buddha.

King Bimbisฤra, a noble disciple who ruled Rajagaha (Rajgir), reported this matter to the Buddha, who at once accepted the challenge.

He explained that the training rule was laid down for disciples and did not apply to their enlightened teacher.

Thereafter he went to Sฤvatthi, the place where all buddhas perform the miracle of the "double appearances” (yamaka pฤtihฤriya).

Artist's rendition of flames and water emanating simultaneously (what-buddha-said.net).

In response to a request by King Pasenadi of Savatthi, the Buddha said he would perform the miracle at the foot of the Ganda-amba (Ganda's mango or amba) tree on the full moon day of the month of Asฤlha [July]. This was the seventh year after his enlightenment (DA.i.57).

Mango tree miraculously sprouts from seed.
The ascetics of other traditions therefore uprooted all of the mango trees for a league (3 miles) in all directions. Nevertheless, on the promised day, the Buddha went to the king's garden, accepted a mango offered to him by Ganda, and caused a marvelous tree to sprout from its seed.
The people, discovering what the other ascetics had done, attacked them, and they had to flee in every direction. During their flight Pลซrana Kassapa committed suicide.

     .
Devas and humans extended for 100+ miles.
The multitude [of devas and humans] who had assembled to witness the miracle extended for a distance of 36 leagues. The Buddha then miraculously created a jeweled walk [bridge] in the air by the side of the Gandamba tree.

When the Buddha's disciples knew what he had in mind, several of them offered to perform miracles so as to refute the insinuations of the other ascetics that they could not.

Among such disciples were Gharanฤซ, Culla Anฤtthapindika, Cฤซrฤ, Cunda, the chief female disciple foremost in magic powers Uppalavannฤ Theri and the male disciple foremost in magic powers Maha Moggallฤna Thero.

    .
Earliest human representation of the Buddha
The Buddha declined their offers and related the Kanhausabha and Nandivisฤla Jฤtakas (rebirth tales).
Then, standing on the jeweled walk, he proceeded to perform the Twin Miracle (yamaka-pฤtihฤriya), so called because it consists of the appearance of phenomena of opposite character in pairs: for example, producing flames from the upper part of his body and a stream of water from the lower then alternating the two.

Flames and streams of water proceeded alternately from the right and left sides of his body (DA.l.57); DhA.iii.214f. explains how this is done:

From every pore of his body an aura of six-colored rays shot forth upwards to the realm of Brahmฤ and downwards to the edge of the world-system (cakkavฤla).

    Levitation (dreamtime.com)
The miracle lasted for a long time, and as the Buddha walked up and down the jeweled terrace he taught the multitude from time to time.

It is said that he performed miracles and delivered sutras (delivered "sermons," as it were) for 16 days, according to the various psychological dispositions of those present in the assembly to watch.
    • [Buddhas have the miraculous power of knowing peoples' minds, dispositions, and capacities and are therefore able to teach just the right thing for their rapid progress toward insight.]
At the conclusion of the miracle, the Buddha -- following the example of his predecessors (buddhas of the past) -- made his way in three strides to the space plane known as the "World of the Thirty-Three" (Tฤvatimsa).
The Buddha in the World of the Thirty-Three, teaching his mother the Abdhidharma.

He went there to teach the Abhidharma to his biological mother Queen Maya who, having passed away when he was only a week old, had been reborn in that world as a devaputta, figuratively a "son of god" but actually meaning "one reborn among the devas."

The Twin Miracle is described in the Sumangala Vilฤsinฤซ (DA.i.57) and in great detail in the Dhammapadatthakathฤ (DhA.iii.204); see also J.iv.263ff. The DhA. version appears to be entirely different from the Jฤtaka version. The latter is very brief and lacks many details, especially regarding Pindola's miracle and the preaching of the Abhidharma in the World of the Thirty-Three.

The account given in the Divyฤvadฤna (Dvy., 143-66) is again different; the miracle was repeatedly performed by the Buddha (see, e.g., Candanamฤlฤ), and it is often referred to, for example, at J.i.77, 88, 193; Ps.i.125; SNA.i.36; AA.i.71; MA.ii.962; Mil. 349; Vsm.390; PvA.137; Dฤthฤvamsa i.50.

The Twin Miracle at Sravasti (btrts.org.sg)
The miracle was also performed by the Buddha's relics; see, for example, Mhv.xvii.52f.; Sp.i.88, 92.

It is said (Mil.349) that 200 million beings (most of them devas) penetrated to an understanding of the Dharma at the conclusion of the miracle.

It is noteworthy that due to its complexity and difficulty, the Twin Miracle can only be performed by a buddha (Mil.106).
