Slipknot loses Grammy to Metallica (live)

I. Rony (ed.), Wisdom Quarterly; Grammys 2024; Stranger Things (Netflix); AI; Slipknot, "Spit It Out" multiple reactions via DamianGDO, 11/17/23

Metallica used to be good right at the beginning, like the first two albums, but after that? C'mon. Slipknot has been great since the first album, staying heavy yet melodic with Corey Taylor's vocal range. The old white men at the Grammys are certainly not breaking any ground to honor Metalica. It would have been a greater honor to give them a lifetime achievement award and let it go at that. Their ship has sailed, and there are lots of better ships on the sea now. Okay, so Stranger Things revived an interest in "Master of Puppets" and the band, but that song came about very early on. It's not representative. Look at all the excitement Slipknot is able to arouse at a show.

"Master of Puppets" is a good song because it's early before selling out

Science: Before Big Bang, the universe existed

Family Guy; BeeyondIdeas, 11/2/23; Pat Macpherson, Dhr. Seven (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Hubble did it first even if it didn't do it better. Now Webb is wowing public. Crab Nebula above

"This universe existed before the Big Bang" ft. Roger Penrose

(BeeyondIdeas) Let's unravel the mysteries surrounding (our) Big Bang. Was it truly the beginning of everything?

31 Planes/Zones of Existence
[No, obviously not. In Buddhist cosmology, the universe (multiverse) is aeons (kalpas) old, ordinary aeons and great aeons, of incalculable lengths as the universe arises, expands, disintegrates, goes into a state of chaos, and arises again, cyclically, repeatedly, endlessly.

It is unclear what constitutes a universe, the everything, because there are world systems (cakkavalas), and each world system is similar to the countless others, like bubbles in space. If each constitutes a universe, a self-contained system of planets and stars and a diverse population of creatures, then we live in a multiverse with such universes extending out in 10,000 directions.

There are 31 Planes of Existence, divided into three spheres, our Sensual Sphere, the more subtle Fine Material Sphere above us, and the Immaterial Sphere, which is formless, above that. These 31 Planes are general categories with countless individual worlds and inhabitants. Space is big, very big, and multidimensional, so it's even bigger than we can imagine.

Could order ever emerge from chaos, Bill Nye?

Keplers supernova remnant is a (wiki)
So from a Buddhist cosmological point of view, if a "Big Bang" is the initial point of an expanding universe, this is just a phase after a lengthy period of contraction. After expanding, it dissipates into chaos for a lengthy period. But after a time, it again establishes order and regularity, and this is a new beginning, a Golden Age or Satya Yuga, an Age of Truth. We are currently in a Kali Yuga, but it is hard to say because within these massive cycles there are subcycles, mini periods of revolution, of dark and bright, cycles within cycles.

And it just goes on this way without end and, therefore, without a discernible beginning, which is not to say there was not one, only that it cannot now be found. And we cannot reason our way there. It is one of the Four Imponderables.

One would sooner become deranged, a "mad scientist," before settling on a satisfactory answer. And, in any case, it would not actually be satisfactory, like The God Idea as the cause of all things, with Maha Brahma (the "Great Supremo") as the cause of all things, which the Buddha declared a wrong view.
God creates the universe with his friend Chugs.
A creator god is as good as any explanation only because it stops all further searching. It is said that science is ridiculous in positing a Big Bang as a first cause because in doing so it is saying, "Everything is rational, mechanical, explicable, and understandable IF you just give us this one bit of irrational, supernatural, inexplicable, and nonsense Big Bang magic as the cause and origin of everything.]

The Maui fires: What really happened? (video)

The Maui fires - what really happened?
(Two Bit da Vinci) Aug. 16, 2023: Hearts go out to victims of the Maui fires and the residents of the former town Lahaina. It's been a heartbreak to see how the fires have unfolded. There isa lot to this, from how it started to the failure of government and energy companies to a slew of conspiracy theories trying to fill the information gap. [Our favorite is the use of a directed energy weapon on a drought-stricken area during windy conditions.] TBdV wants to bring some context and rationality to this tragedy, so let's figure this out together.

What "Machine Elves" told me on DMT (video)

TripWhip, 5/31/18; Dr. Michele Ross (reset); Pat Macpherson, CC Liu (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
WARNING: Confused ramblings about the ineffable sprinkled with cussing and speculation.

This is my best attempt to explain what the "machine elves" [shapeshifters who figure into abductions around Mt. Shasta as reported by David Paulides in Missing 411, pretas, kumbandhas, yakkhas, nagas, devas, asuras, rakshasas, demons, angels, tricksters, pranksters, fairies, wee folk, goblins, Grays, inorganic little green men, androids, short robots controlled by tall Nordics...?] told me on DMT, and I speculate what they are. [NOTE: Interesting in both accounts is reference to dead ancestors, shapeshifting pretas, made visible again. The "vine of the dead" or "vine of the souls" is one of the key ingredients in ayahuasca (caapi, yage, natema, harmaline), the active ingredient of which is DMT.]
Neuroscientist describes her DMT trip

Neuroscientist Dr. Michele Ross is a former drug researcher for the National Institute on Drug Abuse turned medical marijuana and psychedelics advocate. Dr. Ross says she sought out non-neurotoxic, nonaddictive DMT to help her heal traumas. In this clip, she describes her DMT trip in detail. More info on natural medicines and therapies: reset.me.

Kurt Cumming(Kurt Cumming) I have no idea how this [video] was recommended to me, but I'm so glad I clicked it. (All today of research and now I'm back). I've had a bit of a rough patch. Both parents passing away and some other stuff, but recently trying to move forward, and now I believe DMT could be an answer.. Would love to know if you think it could help? Cheers, buddy.

Vault Boy (Vault Boy) The entities you speak of are the collective life of all there is. Another name for it is "Source" or all together "GOD" [Hinduism's Brahman]. We are all connected to this source, and we are all one. They are our ancestors but also more. They are also YOU, and YOU are them including all those reading this. When they say you can do anything, they are correct, because we create our own reality. That is how they control everything, because we as individuals are all connected. We control everything through creation and our co-creation relationship. Through our focused thought, our vibration (indicated by how we FEEL but not the feelings from drugs), and our belief and expectations, these combine in such a way that we create our own reality. And this is 100% because I have used this formula to shift and change things, and it's why [Isaiah effect] prayers come true! I am a witness, and I know the truth. And I fully accept 100% responsibility for everything in my life. And after I learned about all of this [The Secret stuff] in depth from my teacher, I will share the last thing he said after sharing it with me: "May you never be the same!"

Richard Bruce(Richard Bruce) Friend, you need to realize these are demons, which live to deceive. They live in all of us, and if you lack the knowledge of God's word they will fully misdirect you into [self-]destruction. "Anything you want" sounds so great, but it is not, friend. At least look into it. I have captured parts of their true form on video, and when you see them you will realize these are not benevolent entities.

Meet 5 SoCal "genius" grant recipients

KPCC Staff (scpr.org, Sept. 22, 2016); Dhr. Seven, Ashley Wells, Wisdom Quarterly
Don't think about sex. How are you going to be a genius? More education=less sex.

What is "genius," and how do I do/get/be it? (Grant Snider/redlemonclub.com)

The staff at Wisdom Quarterly was overlooked again this year. MacArthur people, are you paying attention? But the 2016 list of winners includes five locals, writers, a poet, obscure researchers, everything we love and strive for. Pasadena's Caltech gets accolades, as does nearby USC, the ACLU, and Claudia Rankine. Karma is sweet (when it comes to fruition).

AUDIO: Poet Claudia Rankine named a MacArthur genius
    Poet, author Claudia Rankine
The 2016 class of MacArthur Foundation Fellowship honorees has been announced. Among them was [black] poet Claudia Rankine. Her book, Citizen: An American Lyric, is a provocative meditation on race in America. Through a series of vignettes, she tells the stories of everyday racism that people of color face on a daily basis. The poems are largely based on actual incidents of passive bigotry and prejudice that Rankine and her friends have personally experienced (The Frame/scpr.org).

Do geniuses have skeletons in the closet?
The fellows, announced Thursday [9/21/16] by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, include USC professor and cultural historian Josh Kun, ACLU human rights lawyer Ahilan Arulanantham, nonfiction writer Maggie Nelson, and two scientists with Caltech (the California Institute of Technology) in Pasadena -- microbiologist Dianne Newman and geomicrobiologist Victoria Orphan.

The grants are meant to recognize individuals “who have shown extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits and a marked capacity for self-direction,” according to the MacArthur foundation.

Each fellow receives a no-strings stipend of $625,000 paid out over five years. More + VIDEO

    Spooky: corporations spy on non-profits

Wisdom Quarterly; Gary Ruskin (CorporatePolicy.org, Nov. 20, 2013), "Spooky Business: A New Report on Corporate Espionage Against Non-profits"
Giant corporations are employing highly unethical or illegal tools of espionage against nonprofit organizations with near impunity, according to a new report by Essential Information.

The report, titled Spooky Business, documents how corporations hire shady investigative firms staffed with former employees of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), National Security Agency (NSA), US military, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Secret Service, and local police departments to target nonprofit organizations.

“Corporate espionage against nonprofit organizations is an egregious abuse of corporate power that is subverting democracy,” said Gary Ruskin, author of Spooky Business. “Who will rein in the forces of corporate lawlessness as they bear down upon nonprofit defenders of justice?”

Many of the world’s largest corporations and their trade associations -- including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Walmart, Monsanto, Bank of America, Dow Chemical, Kraft, Coca-Cola, Chevron, Burger King, McDonald’s, Shell, BP, BAE, Sasol, Brown & Williamson, and E.ON -- have been linked to espionage or planned espionage against nonprofit organizations, activists, and whistleblowers.

Many different types of nonprofit organizations have been targeted with corporate espionage, including environmental, anti-war, public interest, consumer, food safety, pesticide reform, nursing home reform, gun control, social justice, animal rights, and arms control groups. More

Ordinary alcohol works like gas (petrol)

Running cars on alcohol is better than hydrogen or non-solar electricity (ACBAG)

Anyone can become energy independent with alcohol fuel. Reverse global warming. Survive the end of Peak Oil. Alcohol fuel is "liquid sunshine" not controlled by trans-national corporations.

Anyone can produce alcohol for less than $1.00 (1 USD) a gallon using a variety of plants and waste products from algae to stale donuts. It is a much better and cleaner fuel than gasoline.

Motors were invented before gasoline (petrol) was, originally using alcohol. That is what car engines were invented to use. It can go into cars right now! No adjustments or modifications are needed. But Big Oil has scare tactics and powerful lobbyists.

Alcohol can also generate electricity. Alcohol burns so cleanly that, by law, gasoline must be added before using it in cars. It must be denatured so that people will not drink it. Brazil already uses it widely in as high as a 90% mixture. Ethanol would be added in the US, but the petrochemical industry worries about how that would affect its bottom line.

Alcohol fuel production is ecologically sustainable, revitalizes farms and communities, and creates huge new opportunities for small-scale businesses. Its byproducts are clean and valuable. Alcohol has a proud history and a vital future.  Learn more with the 5-minute video "Alcohol Fuel Overview," or view the Two-Minute Summary, and see the Alcohol Can Be a Gas! book and DVD.

US Economy: "We're Not Broke" (film)

    Wisdom Quarterly; OnshoreDocumentary; OccupyTogether.org

(SFF) While covering the story of American corporations dodging taxes, documentary filmmakers Karin Hayes and Victoria Bruce reveal how they ended up documenting the modern  rise in anti-corporation protests that helped spawn the Occupy Movement. It is gathering acclaim on the film festival circuit for its portrayal of what is going on in America today as multinational corporations (like Romney's Bain Capital) purposely transfer wealth out of the nation.

What is the Military-Industrial Complex? (video)

Ashley Wells, Pfc. Sandoval, Wisdom Quarterly (EXPLANATION); NWO Thesis
() Pres. Eisenhower: "In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence...by the military industrial complex." "We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes...."

"Military-industrial complex" is a phrase that signifies the cozy relationship between corporate and governmental parties that promote, manage, and profit from wars.

It involves the Pentagon, CIA, multinational corporations, the White House, Congress, and an agency with no name but referred to by Senator Daniel Inouye as the "shadowy government" with its own funding sources and decision processes.

Senator Inouye chaired the Senate Select Committee on Secret Military Assistance to Iran and the Nicaraguan Opposition in 1987. It held public hearings on the Iran-Contra affair. He summarized the coverup he discovered:

"There exists a shadowy government with its own air force, its own navy, its own fundraising mechanism, and the ability to pursue its own ideas of the national interest, free from all checks and balances and free from the law itself."

The military demands weapons, and private corporations gladly provide them for obscene amounts of money allocated not only by Congress but by unrevealed sources (drug sales, illicit weapons sales, extortion, piracy, the sale of public technology to private entities, the manipulation of the currency and world economy, and so forth).

The White House is not in charge but does serve the useful function of selling it to the public or keeping it secret and a matter of "national security." The mainstream media is complicit as are two other important complexes, the pharmaceutical industry (that provides contaminants, psychotrophic drugs, and deadly vaccines to the military and government) and the prison-industrial complex.

"Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."

Private companies and massive multinational corporations have a "revolving door" policy with the Pentagon, Congress, clandestine services (such as the CIA), and the White House. Lobbyists pitch weapons sales to their former employers in the government and vice versa.

"Industry" produces weapons, equipment, toxins, and support services for war. Military brass -- such as the Trilateral Commission, NATO, and secret offices in the Pentagon -- ensure low level conflicts worldwide, secret drone attacks, deep sea and space monitoring, and all out wars on relatively weak nations to utilize the services of defense contractors and government forces for profit.

Profits involve more than illicit drug sales, oil reserves, strategic geopolitical influence and the control of trade for multinational corporations, and weapons sales. The goal is "full spectrum dominance," the prevailing of our peculiar style of capitalism, and the continued enslavement of the third world. It continues centuries, if not millenia, of imperial war-profiteering.

A Multiverse of Exploration: The Future of Science 2021
Invisibility cloaks. The search for extraterrestrial intelligence. A Facebook for genes. These were just a few of the startling topics IFTF explored at our recent Technology Horizons Program conference on the "Future of Science." More than a dozen scientists from UC Berkeley, Stanford, UC Santa Cruz, Scripps Research Institute, SETI, and private industry shared their edgiest research driving transformations in science. MythBusters' Adam Savage weighed in on the future of science education. All of their presentations were signals supporting IFTF's new "Future of Science" forecast, laid out in a new map titled "A Multiverse of Exploration: The Future of Science 2021." Free "World Digital Library" launches today

Launching today, a new resource of the world's greatest treasures made available to all, introducing the WORLD DIGITAL LIBRARY:

    www.wdl.org/en/

Still in its infancy yet soon to grow exponentially (along the lines of Wikipedia entries and Google searches, both of which it seems to combine), the WDL connections on Buddhism is diverse but sparse.

It works like this: Sponsored by UNESCO, the WDL seeks to put all the world's libraries at the tip of WWW users' fingers.
    What is it?
(October 2007) -- UNESCO and the US Library of Congress will join forces to build a World Digital Library, following the signing of an agreement by Abdul Waheed Khan, UNESCO’s Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information, and the Librarian of Congress James H. Billington, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

The World Digital Library initiative will digitize unique and rare materials from libraries and other cultural institutions around the world and make them available free of charge on the Internet. These materials include manuscripts, maps, books, musical scores, sound recordings, films, prints, and photographs....The prototype was developed by the Library of Congress and UNESCO with five other partner institutions: Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the National Library of Egypt, the National Library of Brazil, the National Library of Russia, and the Russian State Library.

The prototype functions in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish, the six official languages of the United Nations, as well as in Portuguese.

It features search and browse by place, time, topic, and contributing institution. The World Digital Library initiative has been designed to promote international and inter-cultural understanding, increase the quality and diversity of cultural content on the internet, and contribute to education and scholarship.

Individuals and institutions in more than 40 countries and the IFLA have participated in working groups and expert meetings to plan the World Digital Library.

“Libraries are key actors for ensuring universal access to information and building knowledge societies,” said UNESCO Director-General, Koïchiro Matsuura. “We are very pleased to build on the excellent partnership that we have long enjoyed with the Library of Congress to work in innovative ways to preserve and make accessible the memory of the world.”

FREE-ACCESS: Library materials from around the globe free online

(Guardian.co.uk) -- Libraries and archives from around the world have come together in a project to share their collections of rare books, maps, films, manuscripts and recordings online for free.

Almost four years in the making, the World Digital Library will launch on 21 April, 2009. It will function in seven languages – Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. It will also include content in additional languages....
    .
The brainchild of James Billington, from the US's Library of Congress, the project has been developed by Unesco and the Library of Congress, along with 32 other partners from around the world, including national libraries from Iraq, Egypt, Russia, Brazil, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Uganda. More>>
